A simple but effective could be a portrait of Morley with something like - 'In the beginning...........'
The charity suggestion was put forwad right at the start. The problem is that many people that donated to the banner already donate to various charities, so it was felt best to continue with that. We are in deed very lucky to have the services of maulled1904. We have the money, we're on the way to a concensus with the City of Culture and Cobb-Morley thing, we just need a design and we're cooking.
I like the Ian Ashbee suggestion. With a caption like "Captain fantastic through all 4 divisions". Ok maybe not that ****e! You get the drift.
If my vote counts for anything then ash definatley. Ashbee's gunna get ya......if not could we just play him instead of tom
Don't like the idea of getting involved in the Year of Culture, as I believe it will become political between club and HCC. I liked Omega Man's 'Boothferry to Wembley' as it expresses our journey, but maybe a twist on that which expresses the desperate nature of our journey 'Fer Ark to Wembley' ? It keeps something alive we shouldn't forget.
Ian Ashbee City Legend That would work with black writing and a black image of him on an amber background.......
Personally I'd go with Morley as a starting point, if the club would allow it it would be a perfect place inbetween the two big Ideal signs in the East stand right on the half way line and we could work outwards on either side from there. It would be good if we were on TV showing that someone from Hull invented the laws of the game and we've acknowledged it
Surprised at your reasoning for not wanting a City of Culture flag. Surely we shouldn't be ashamed of talking about our City's big achievement just because the dictator won't like it. Only he could see it as controversial, to anyone else its a good thing.
The club are very keen to get on board with the City Of Culture, they've already met with the City Of Culture Board to discuss hosting events etc and though it's obviously been arranged by HCC, it's an independent company running it and I don't really think it's an issue.
I'd prefer some kind of Ashbee design . The way he finished his time at the club wasn't ideal and he really is a legend so some kind of small recognition of this by fans would be pretty good
I'd go with the Ashbee idea - something Ashbee's gonna get you would be my vote, but I'm happy to donate to whatever we decide next since I didn't the first time around.
I think if you go for an individual player it is a bit detrimental to other players over the years whom have been great servants to the club
Exactly So why the **** do we want a football banner with city of culture on it. Its ****ing stupid. Were a football team FFS.
I'd agree with this, and i think the stand out suggestion so far, (apart from my own one, a big Knob and Bollocks) is from Mauled. An image of Sir Morley, with something like,In the beginning, there was a man named Ebeneezer Cobb Morley... That would fit in perfectly, with the city of culture thing, without even needing to mention it. I reckon a flag like that could become quite famous ! Edit: Mauled mate,i'm curious. You being an artist and all that...You painted that bird in your avatar didn't you
I'm not ashamed of it, what makes you think that; but if the club are behind it let their hard earned (extorted) dosh pay for it, I would be surprised if Allam doesn't find some way to make mischief with HCC through the event - he has never let us down so far. Maybe for different reasons, I don't know, but I agree with Chazz, we are Hull City AFC, a football team, let's focus on that.
