Right, so every single transfer value you have ever seen is now defunct. I've worked in football and the media, thanks for teaching me how to suck eggs. I can guarantee there are dozens and dozens of clauses in every single multi million pound deal concluded whether we are told about them or not. The world record deal for Bale? Using your logic it's not the value we know. The Liverpool deal for Carroll? Using your logic it's not the value we know. The £12m we got for Long or the £9m we paid for Hernandez? Using your logic they're not the value we know. Every player Poyet has signed or sold for a value? Using your logic it's not the value we know.

So let's never discuss a transfer fee ever again. Well done.

And for the record, I never said anything about money going through accounts. I said the value of the bid made by Sunderland and the public value of that bid was £14m. I never at any stage mentioned how much money wouldve gone through the books and the 2 things are very different.

That's my whole point fella. You're just quoting the price the media put out but we know it's a very different story. Fact is, had Borini signed for us the chance of us ever paying the full amount would be very very slim, most transfers never trigger the all the clauses so thanks for proving my point with your expert opinion. <ok>

I like to discuss transfers, pre clause. Not the final fee as what's the point? Clauses are subject to speculation unless you've seen the contract. There's a good chance one of the clauses will be on him achieving 10 Italy caps, then 20. Which he's very unlikely to fulfill as he's just not good enough, but that's just speculation which is part of my point. The other part of point is you used speculation in these clauses to value your own player when fact is Borini would would never have been worth 14m UNLESS he triggered the clauses in which then and only then would he become a 14m player.

You used the potential future value of a player to value your own player in present day which is mental logic. That's the fundamental flaw in your post I initially responded to. Should have been clearer, apologies, I thought it was enough to make my point. <ok>

As for never discussing transfer fee? I thought that's what we were doing?

Why do you keep going on about the 'price you wouldve paid' when I never referenced that at any stage? I said bid. The bid, offer whatever you want to call it was what I referenced. I never once mentioned how much you would pay.

And I'll rest assured that you now never make reference to the cost of any player in history ever again

You're still using a bid which involved future fees based on clauses to give another player a present day value which is so flawed it's unreal.

Question - if the bid isnt £14million, as you seem to claim, why didnt Sunderland just offer a straight £10million then?

I mean, the extra £4m clearly didnt have any impact so why include it?

Eh? The bid was 14m, 10m with potential add ons. The player is worth 10m and not a penny more until he's triggered a clause or a club values him higher with a bid. You're using the potential add on's which may or not ever be triggered to value your player in present day. Come on fella, you're the self proclaimed expert can you not see how the bases of valuing Aluko at £7.5m is fundamentally flawed? In fact the value is more like 3.5m, if the transfer link is and value still value him the same. It's just common sense.

But, we'll agree to disagree eh? No big deal. <ok>

I'm getting really confused now. I said the bid was £14m, you said "Well no, it's 10m" and now you're saying "The bid was 14m". And what's equally confusing is when you say "you're the self proclaimed expert". Just where did I self proclaim anything of the kind? I had a look back through my posts and the word expert doesnt appear anywhere.

But life really is too short to go back over and over again with someone I've never met, never will meet and never want to meet.

    No I said

Go back and check. It's post 12.

That's 14 million. Of course I don't need to tell you with your footballing experience.

Glad to clear up any confusion.

Ok I'll retract the expert thing, you've claim you've worked in football and media which make you an expert compared to myself...You'd think. It's digressing and not relevant to the point but hey ho, people try to deflect when hey start clutching.

Like I said, we'll agree to disagree, no big deal. <ok>:)

I think that others will leave before Messi does. Barcelona are not in any position to allow anyone to leave - player wise that is.
