At the end of the day, Evans was hanged by his own words and deeds. They defined him as a rapist. In that room there were three people, one can remember nothing, two offered a version of events that the experts determined amounted to rape. If Evans had been man enough to stand up and say, that he offered a full and frank version of events to the courts and they decided that amounted to rape. He can say he doesn't necessarily agree, but accepts the verdict as if nothing else, it shows he lacked morals and wisdom. He could apologise for the shame he's brought on his family, friends and the football world, and also the harm and distress he's caused the victim and her family and friends. At least with something on those lines he can start to move on. Instead, we've half arsed internet 'experts' dragging piffle and rumour about the girl and events. I doubt it was Evans and his mates first go at this sort of thing either, but that seems something best left unsaid.

The people on the jury are no greater experts on the subject of rape than the people talking on internet forums, remember they are members of the public as well and the conviction was reached based on their opinion after hearing all the facts. The key difference is that they have heard all the facts and so we should respect the decision unless it is overturned.
Exactly. She was trying to be clever and get me to post something that could have been potentially illegal. Shame this forum hasn't got moderators that look out for that kind of behaviour and guard against things that could damage the site, instead of just abusing posters.

Can we just shut this thread down. Although it is related to football, the whole thread is becoming derailed into a re run of his trail and there really isnt any more that needs to be said on the matter now.
Until his contract has been finalised people will want to discuss it, there's no point shutting it down to then create another one when he's announced as an Oldham player. If you don't like it or it offends you then don't read it, but its relevant and people want to contribute to the debate so there's no reason to close it.

Stop me what? My argument is no more and no less than that until a court decides otherwise, he's a convicted rapist. He hasn't apologised or accepted the verdict. He's simply said sorry for getting caught this time cheating on his millionaire girlfriend.
