I like the look of Rosler at 16/1, but definitely not the look of Keane at 14/1 <yikes>

How the bloody hell has his name crept in to any kind of reckoning? Never in a million Sundays!

I would be very surprised if Phelan doesn't get the job and will be happy to see what he can do in his first managerial role.
Everyone has to start somewhere and we have no idea if he will be an instant success like Mourinho or a total flop like Ryan Giggs.
I hope I am wrong but there will be a lot of fans writing him off before his first game in charge.
A big name signing like Laudrup or Rijkard would be amazing but I don't think we can attract that calibre of manager at Championship Norwich and with the money available even those two couldn't guarantee promotion.

I like the idea of MP as manager- not sure why people are so against it. He has considerable experience (not like Giggs) of coaching world class players (so obviously a drop down for him working at NCFC) of being involved in winning trophies and instilling a winning mentality in players, commands respect, can be a belligerent fecker and has a desire to succeed. Pretty confident he can put a coherent and cohesive team together and given that we have many quality players, what could possibly go wrong?

My guess is that gambling odds reflect betting patterns rather than what the bookies actually think will happen...

Which means there are a hell of a lot of Binners putting money on Keane in hope <laugh>

Are you suggesting that they might really, actually be obsessed with Norwich City after all?

Coaching top players week in week out is not the same as managing Championship players on a daily basis.

He claimed he was United manager for the last five years. What a load of nonsense! He had the same role Culverhouse had at City under Lambert. Did the coaching each day but the minute the REAL manager walks in everyone knows who is boss.

He'd be just as big a gamble as Adams was and its not worth the risk to my mind. I don't see why he'd suddenly become a decent manager, he'd need time, like Adams, to learn the role. We don't have that time.

As big a gamble as Adams, that's nonsense- Remind me of their respective levels of experience and what they would potentially bring as a manager- they are poles apart. When you look at the possibilities, MP doesn't seem a bad option.

I also think that you'd need to be pretty inept not to be relatively successful (play offs) with the squad of players Norwich have. The degree to which the new manager has to be better than Adams is not that great- I'd think MP has that ability

    I agree with that.

But there is no evidence to suggest Phelan has any managerial ability. Being number two to SAF isn't evidence.

So being mentored, observing modelling (insert your pick of other related words) doesn't count- It counts far more than running a fecking youth team and that's why it is not as big a gamble

It would appear that Supers has set his stall out and clearly doesn't rate Phelan and would be against his appointment as manager of Norwich.

His choices Robinson & Rosler don't look very likely to get the gig.

Unless I am reading his posts wrong it would seem that IF Phelan is appointed he will be treated as a failure before he starts and we will be reminded that he was against the appointment.
If we do well and gain promotion he always knew that he had the quality and learnt by his mistakes etc.
    All too predictable.

So along the same lines of your argument, if I was mentored, observed etc, by a super head teacher, then I would be able to be a head teacher without it being a big gamble?

I really don't know what your gripe is SN, is it that you are jealous that Supers worked at CR in the backroom staff and still has contacts in other countries? Supers will be the first to admit that he's not always right, but he bases his opinions on knowledge, not presumption! I really wish you would stop this witch hunt, it favours no-one!

Each to his own 23, I happen to agree with both points of view expressed here, firstly that Phelan, whichever way you want to look at it, WOULD be a risky appointment, at this stage of the season and considering our publicised targets for the season. Considering his CV, not as much of a risk as Adams was, but someone with managerial experience, preferably at this level, would still be a better option in my opinion. I don´t think Phelan would be a disaster, but it´s certainly debatable whether he would get the necessary level of patience from the fans, if things, as with Adams, took time to improve, whereas a proper manager, might.

I have no Idea what Supers does and didn't know he worked at CR should I?.
The contacts in other countries part doesn't even make sense.

There is no 'witch hunt' i just get fed up of the constant negativity .
If the new manager loses againt the top team on Saturday there will be a long line of posters waiting to lay the boot in all of them seem to know better than the people in charge of our club.
Being negative is far easier as 75% of clubs and managers in this league will have failed if they don't finish in the play offs.
