Best way to avoid others wanting to leave would be for Monk to invest the money asap on two or three players. Use the money and buy quality rather than quantity. We all knew he would leave eventually, hopefully we get the best deal for the club too.
I think the Gomis -Emnes combo looks not bad in the 4 - 4 -1-1 set up and I think Monk thinks that too .Remember , Bony's not gone yet but if he does we will bring players in to gel the rest of the season and be ready for next season
It is mental to think that little old Swansea are to get 30,000,000 for a player. I remember paying35,000 for Paul Connor and thought it was mega money for us.
I'm still not completely sold on Emnes Roof. For me he has a tendancy to be selfish in the top half of the pitch which is no good for the way we play. On saying that he did start to lay the ball off a la Siggy in last 20mins on Saturday and put Gomis in a couple of times. If he keeps that up then he'll be superb, hope he's learned.
I couple of times he was accused of being selfish he didnt miss by much on his shots , over all he needs to be a bit more team minded though .Gotta love the price for him though .
Bob, Tranmere away is a long way off what we have to play in January. I hope they can do the buisness.
Wilf will get games in the short term but after that he'll realise what a terrible decision it was when he can't get on the pitch and he loses his international place as a result. I'm really not bitter and he deserves his chance at a big club but there are consequences in going to a club that stockpiles talent, and they do.
If Bony leaves, as now seems likely, presumably Gomis will become our No 1 striker. He reportedly signed a three year contract with us worth £3-5 million pounds. Crystal Palace offered us £6 million pounds and I wonder whether this is on top of Gomis' contract or whether his remaining contract is included in the £6 million. if this is the case it would be a bad deal for us. Anyway circumstances change and i don't see any point in him leaving now
Gomis came to us on free so excluding his wages to date we're on to a winner if he goes ,which I hope he doesn't as he'll be our star man now .
There has never been any question that anyone connected with the club has ever mentioned that gomis wants to leave the club, it's all bull from start to finish than somebody started and everyone jumping on the bandwagon adding bits and pieces to attract readers, it happens everyday somewhere. Another made up story is shelvey wanting to go...He has never wanted no such thing...They are both key members of the squad and always have been...Apart from Bony leaving which if you follow the swans you should know is no surprise as far back as last season, It was just when he would be leaving and as yet we still dont know if its imminent or at the end of the season. Through The club is the only way to know the truth and until the press officer makes any official announcement then take anything outsiders say with a pinch of salt.....If you are fairly level headed and switched on you can usually tell what is fact and what is fiction...
Sky reporting that Bony having a medical at Manchester tomorrow also reporting that Gomis wants to leave and has a £7 million pounds buy out clause.
Got no probs with another 7 Million £ for Gomis , and the same for Shelvey sugarman Fab Rangel,Fern ,Williams , Taylor Dyer , Siggy , Britton , Routledge Emnes New 10Million£striker pending before the window closes The new spainard striker on the bench , Lots of squad defenders, Carroll to back up Britton , Montero and Barrow ready to back up Dyer and Routledge. If Shelvey isnt sold , back up for Siggy , 30 Million£ In the bank and sitting on 29 points with 18 Games remaining ...no probs.
IF we keep Gomis - I'd like to see us tough the rest of the season out before landing a top quality striker in the summer....how much we spend would depend on how well Gomis does. If Gomis looks capable of holding down the shirt (with Oliviera, Emnes and Barrow deputising when required) then I would look to land a young striker who has all the attributes to develop into the strong, hold up man up front that we need. The right recruit could cost anywhere between £2m and £8m. In this scenario we'd go into the new season knowing that we have the capable and experienced Gomis and a bright young talent that would get plenty of minutes who we would be looking to groom. IF Gomis turns out to be not up to it - I would get rid in the summer and recruit 2 strikers, 1 young (£2-8m) and 1 as the starter (£8-15m). IF we sell Gomis as well this window - I would look to loan a top quality striker until the end of the season. Somebody like Javier Hernandez or Fabio Borini (This would obviously cost). Then I would recruit 2 strikers in the summer, 1 young (£2-8m) and 1 as the starter (£8-15m). The important thing for me is not to fall into the trap of trying to replace Bony in this window....use the rest of the season to line the right man up for this summer. The extra money could be used (along with a portion of next season's TV money) to recruit; 1) Replacement for Rangel 2) Replacement for Leon 3) Competition for Taylor 4) Good young competition for Fabianski and 5) One genuine left footed winger with pace to burn
