off topic sorry for this post but I'm fuming. On the news tonight part the reason the hospitals are stretched is because of the ageing population. I don't see old people every night in accident and emergency getting treatment.what I see is the hospitals over run by Drug addicts needing help. Rant over.
Like Japan, who are struggling more with this than anybody else, we have an ageing population. Due to the post war babyboom we don't have a healthy ratio of "young" working people to support the needs of older people who tend to cost the NHS more money. The torries, shy of not murdering old people, aren't to blame. Neither or drunks, the amount of money spent treating a black eye, glassed heed or broken arm on a friday night is far outweighed by the money spent treating chronic and terminal illnesses in young and old. No one's fault, no one's to blame. They were just stating a fact.
In my humble opinion the NHS is a fantastic institution that helps millions of people every week. Unfortunately it's usually only the odd bad hiccup that we get to hear about. Agree with Vince in that it's the druggies n the drunks who tend to cause bother and are one of the main causes of the drain on the resources. If the Tories want to privatise parts of the NHS let the weekend arseholes pay for their treatment otherwise put a bullet thru the druggies heads and stick the drunks into a soundproofed pit until they sober off. Then charge the w*nkers on the morning prior to release. Govt would make a fortune and part of these fees could be handed back to the hospitals.
Yeh we can't stop Young unlucky people becoming chronic or terminal I'll but these young people who abuse there bodies THIS APPEARS TO BE A MODERN PROBLEM are the problem and not the old who are more fitter and stronger than years gone bye.
You can't prevent most chronic or terminal illnesses, you can treat them. You can prevent people from taking drugs and drinking too much. If you're going to turn this into a generation war you better do some research Vince. You lot might be fitter than you have been for a long time but the young are currently paying for the older generations misuse of money and poor government spending and we will be for a long time to come.
The young are currently paying for the older generations misuse of money and poor government spending and we will be for a long time to come. That's true but many a suffering now because of others balls up.
Not sure what to make of this post tbh. I retired last year after working and paying unto the system for 51 years. I never begrudged help or treatment for anyone who`d done exactly the same before me. Hopefully it won`t be for a long time yet but am I wrong to expect the same?
Not in the slightest mate. That's why I said that there was no one to blame before being told that actually it's all the fault of us young'uns. I still don't believe there is anyone to blame for this particular issue, it's ridiculous to point the finger at young or old. It's just the situation and it's a damn shame. When people come to the stage in their life when they need supporting they should be supported but with demographics as they currently are it's a stretch.
cant be im still paying my way unlike some, been paying since 1969 ,the ethos was to treat all whatever ,
Right, I understand. Sorry mate I got the wrong end of that. I paid in for those who had done so before me. When it`s my turn the young `uns will have paid in for me, then it will be their turn.; etc and so it should go on.
Well they saved my daughters, my sisters and my mothers lives and are operating on my leg tomorrow, i think the nhs is great and dont begrudge paying for it one bit, agree it's unnecessarily overstretched though
No-one has the balls to look at the problem. The tories won't do owt for fear of being branded heartless and labour just want to chuck taxes at it. It can be run better and more efficiently without selling it off piecemeal to private enterprise, but none of our useless pissant politicians are up to the task. I suspect it would take more than a 5-year term to sort it out anyway, and who knows who's going to win the next election...
Exactly mate and that's how it should be. Unfortunately that system depends on having a higher proportion of workers in our population than we currently have, unless something is sorted it will be worse again for my children's generation!
