Champions Manchester City look set to win the race for in-demand striker Wilfried Bony after they reportedly agreed a £30m fee with Swansea City.
The Ivory Coast international is about to get out on international duty with prospective new City team-mate Yaya Toure, but City are keen to tie-up a deal to sign him in the current transfer window.
Swansea have accepted a £30m bid from City, claims the Daily Mirror.
The 26-year-old is now in “advanced talks” with Manuel Pellegrini’s side, according to The Sun.
He is expected to sign a four-year deal worth £100,000-a-week at the Etihad Stadium.
City were keen to bring in a new striker this month after injuries to Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic saw James Milner deployed up front in recent weeks.
Alvaro Negredo was never replaced after his move to Valencia, but Bony’s arrival will take Pellegrini’s striker pool back up to four, which is important given that he often plays with two forwards.

    or
Manchester City are in talks with Swansea City over Wilfried Bony – but the Welsh club has insisted that there is still no official offer on the table from the Premier League Champions.
According to the South Wales Evening Post, Manchester City made direct contact with the club via Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins to discuss the possibility of a transfer.
The club continues to insist that there are no guarantees whether he will stay in South Wales or move elsewhere – but they do expect a formal offer to arrive in the next few days.

    Defiant Swans
It is claimed the Swans have “have no desire or financial need to sell Bony” and the outcome of the deal is likely to lie with player himself who has seemed reticent to leave Swansea in the past.

The Ivorian international was the top Premier League goal scorer in 2014 with a total of 21 goals for the Swans.
His persistent goal scoring helped the South Wales side avoid relegation last season and have seen them soar up the table in the current campaign.
Interest in Bony during the summer was high with Liverpool and Spurs thought to have been the favourites to lure him away from the Liberty Stadium at that stage.
    Big money on offer
But the Swans were able to hold on to him, which may prove to be a good bit of business as his continued goalscoring form has since his valuation increase and the suitors become wealthier.
Manchester City’s rumoured £30 million bid for the striker would smash Swansea’s record transfer sale, which is currently the £15 million received for Joe Allen’s move to Liverpool in 2012.
Should the deal go through, Bony will not be the first Swansea player to earn a move to the Etihad Stadium following a rise to fame at the Liberty Stadium.

It's just this report and coupled with the fact that he might have been coming here under the impression that he would be no.1 (thinking Bony would go in the summer). Just speculating mind.

I just checked in 2010/11 Blackpool had 29 points as of 12/1/11 and ended up relegated with 39 points. I am sure even if we did lose a few players we could find 12 points from somewhere.

Bony deal virtually done and dusted, just the final negotiations left to do with MAN City. Good luck to him but i think its a good move financially but a bad move if he wants to play regular football. Unless there is a last minute hitch then that's it for bony and the swans. As for gomis then the press have fallen for the old trick in the book (knowingly) and latched on what started on twitter by a moron winding fans up as gomis is not going anywhere has wanted to go anywhere and will be the No1 striker for the rest of the season and beyond.

Looks like Mr Hero has this one right in my opinion. No need for Gomis to go unless he knows something we don't about who may be coming in. Shame Bony is going now if true because City won't have much use for him when Aguero and Dzeko are back. He'll be an impact sub at best and that may well harm his international career.

Transfer speculation is such fun though.

They could always let us have Dzeko and some cash as well. But Mrs M I think you may be right and Bony will be spending some time on the bench, by the time he returns from ANC City could have their stars back. When he goes I wish him good luck though and hope he doesnt end up like Sinclair.

This is exactly right and sometimes it's the wrong move if a player wants regular football. If it is just to amass a shed full of money on top of what you have got then fair enough but bony strikes me as someone who wants to play every week if he can...One possibility is man city may be prepared to loan bony back to us for the rest of the season but having made a couple of calls nobody knows anything yet....

Bony will be on £100,000.00 plus per week at City, should they actually sign him. That's a hefty pay rise.

Knowing Africans as I do,he will have a large extended family to support back in Cote D'Ivoire, and that money will be put to very good use.

Good luck to him, whatever he decides.

Just wish he was going abroad. Don't want to see him at The Liberty in a sky blue shirt.

If Bony goes for 30 Million x I'll feel a few emotions but one wont be sad .Like I said before , hope he goes quick so we can make promises to Gomis to stay .Also if Bony gets injured in Africa , it aint our problem .To many are looking at this as only bad news , we will lose a great , great player but we will receive tons of money to do what we fo best , find more .

Unanswered questions include, how many may follow Bony out the door.

Up to now, not that we've become something else over night, we've appeared to all to be a non-selling club with aspirations for growth. If Bony does happen to go then, unless we get a truly descent return for him, what's to stop the remainder of the squad starting to think that they are just running around with prices stamped on their heads.

Also the inevitable scavengers, clubs and agents will start to sniff around waiting to pounce on any straying too far from the herd. Shelvey, imo, is already gone but we still have many cherries in our squad, Gomis, Siggy, Ki, Monterro to name a few. Would they have the same inspiration and desire to stay?

Be interesting to see how the board handle this if its true and how Monk retains the integrity of the squad.

The other thing to think of is, if Bony is going to City then who we gonna replace him with. Gomis obviously, but Oliveira from Benfica looks like he'd struggle in the u21's at the moment. We'd need a big or at least decent signing imo.

Anyway, saving grace currently is that there are no direct quotes from anyone just a 'he said she said' story from the Telegraph, who aren't normally the first in line to break a sweat let alone a transfer story.

Wait see how this develops eh chaps!

Rather have someone in our team we know can do the buisness and is a goalscorer rather than the money and not be able to replace. Money means nothing if we end up going down. I do think we will have enough to stay up this season. It is replacing his goals next season is the bigger worry.

Stumpy I agree with the fact we will need another striker in addition to Gomis and Olivera.
