would love him in the team, cracking player when fit,and think it would be perfect a pay as you play deal how could we lose?
Yes good one lads so we'll owe him about 20 quid come the end of the season but, owe the physios, hopsitals specialists etc. a small fortune. Not worth the risk and as I said on a similar thread a couple of weeks ago he wasn't that good when he did play. One decent WC or Euros not sure which he was that good then nothing, leave well alone and promote Colback instead.
I'm knackered watching it... Cracking players, shame he is seemingly goosed. How old is he now? Pay as you play..yep.
Exactly this. I don't think there's ever been an experienced England international and CL winner who, at 30, is seen as so far gone he's having to publicly prove people wrong on Youtube. Massive credit to him, he obviously doesnt need the money but wants to play and knows he has to prove his fitness to get a club. I would absolutely love him on a pay-as-you-play, I see absolutely no negatives whatsoever, and before anyone mentions the 25-man squad rules, I doubt we even have enough players over 21 to make a difference! Go on Sir Niall...!
Daryl Murphy was played regularly because he trained well, Owen is exactly the same put him in a game and he'll fold like a cheap suit.
He used to be a cracking player, if only it wasnt for the injuries! He's been a big loss to England and Man Utd. The likes of Barry are not fit to lace his boots!
I would have him, form is temporary, class is permanent. Can play RB as well as CM. I would give him a trail, play him in some friendlies and see if he comes out of it fit. If he does he could be a fantastic asset.
Anyone else see the reports on him posting videos of him solo training on youtube in an effort to get a club? Looks like he's getting back to fittness after a knightmare 4 years of injuries, he seems to be desperate to get back into a club. Would he be worth a punt on a (really) cheap pay as you play deal, cos he was was a cracking player before injuries put his career on hold. Remember the 2006 world cup? he was one of the England players who emerged with any credit.
It's a tough one mate. I personally think that World Cup was the only time in his career he was stand out, and that his profile was raised by him being at Bayern as a youngster, a bit unique. That said, he's certainly worth a look on pay as you play, but the club should sign a disclaimer relating to medical bills as well, as 'no play no fee' could easily become thousands on this side.
Posted yesterday. Do you want me to move your post into it? http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/62578-new-midfiekder-on-pay-as-play-deal
Was posted on here last night... Bit of exercising. Good player, but a bit like buying a cut and shut car.
