Anyone else think its a good idea to stick with the current squad?

Christ Mignolet and the defence are appalling

    Squad yes.

A new keeper and a new striker or midfielder at a max

This team already has quality in it if Rodgers decides to use it properly. But it also has insane potential - a few years of playing together and I think it will become special.

I agree. But I feel 3 lack 3 things. Bite in midfield, command in defense and a top commanding goal keeper.

Potentially this could be fixed with 2 signings.

We also need a back up striker who is more appropriate to our style. Origi fits the style but is young.

Another lead midfielder like Henderson would do a lot of good to. For depth if nothing else.

    -

We could potentially do the summer quite quickly.

    Cech £7m
    Khedeira free
    Milner free
    Lavezzi £8m

All of those players have top club, title winning and international tournament experience. Two played in the world cup final and one for the winning team.

Great benefits for the team and a lot for the younger players to learn from.

We may have to pay big again for a CB. Unless Sakho can establish himself as a commander.

I agree with you - I meant that the current squad should (if used correctly) would be far better placed than the current league position.

Yep - a real boss DM would protect our defence so much better, then pushing Can in there as well gives us real physicality and drive.

Sakho is by far our best defender and he needs some proper partners now. I was actually worried that the signing of Lovren, injuries and being alienated by Rodgers would Impact his performances but he's taken the opportunity brilliantly. The sign of a really mentally strong player and I believe he can be a future captain.

Sorry but we have some potential nit huge potential and we need 4/5 really good players to build on it

Coutinhos hit a bit of form and finally he looks like he's lasting in games, super little player but he needs coaching. He is a mile off a David silva type right now and I see him playing best one touch and putting the ball in not driving shots aimlessly into defenders blocking. Give him time.

That's just one example, sahko a played quite well since he's come in. If he can stay fit I think he will prove himself a top 4 player.

Sterling is sterling, he needs confidence and leadership

Henderson needs setting free. In the middle allowed to run and press he is good, it'll be a short career though.

However lfc badly badly need a keeper, a centre half, a real cm and another striker

Rodgers lost reina through his own stupidity, carragher and Gerrard to age and Suarez to his own ambition and stupidity

Sorry but he's not only not had them really at their best bar Suarez he's not replaced them

In 2009 lfc with another 100 mil might have completed the job when Alonso, mascherano, Gerrard, Torres and the list goes on were there but now? I cannot see us doing differently to arsenal as frankly they ended up having all their potential poached off them

Especially with Lovren playing crap but still getting picked.

BTW guys, Toures off to the nations cup now so Lovren will be back involved. I vote 'recall Wisdom'.

Sorry Jimmy but this word means absolutely nothing in football.Every kid that signs his first pro contract has potential otherwise he would not be offered it, i bet you could name many from Liverpool who never lived up to it, i know i can from United.

There's a difference between identifying a kid at youth level and saying he has potential, and looking at some youngsters who have a played quite a bit of top level football and have done pretty well. Markovic at Benfica, Can at Leverkusen, Moreno at Sevilla. Not to mention Sterling and Coutinho.

You have just proved my point, has potential but as of yet done little with it. I could raise you Ravell Morrison, amazingly talented but will never be a premier league star.

You've still not named many 20 mil players there Diego <laugh>

Lfc have lots of young players but you can have lots of young players who bugger off as soon as a big club sniffs. Arsenal learned that so sterling and coutinho are two really talented kids at 20 and 22 who are by far more than any player so far mentioned

Can is 20 and an experienced cl player, so is markovic 20 as well.... Sahko is 23. Moreno (worst defender I've seen in 15 years) is 20 and a Europa winner and Spanish capped

Sorry but it's not Ibe level or wisdom that's talked about here

Lfc have some potential there but mingolet, Skertl, Lucas and the like need to be replaced post haste for development to occur

I must say straight off that i know little of these three apart from what i have seen with Liverpool (Moreno has impressed me), but i do wonder why nobody in their own leagues picked up on them or why (as far as i know) you had little competition for their signitures.

Because the biggest clubs are far more interested in signing ready made stars than these youngsters.

And we had finished 2nd, promoted youth, played exciting football and had CL to offer.

There are thousands FF, even players that were picked for England, Lee Sharp (left United and fell off the radar), SWP (played for many clubs but never made it, is he still playing somewhere?)
Potential has to be turned into consistancy year after year, not just 1/2 good seasons.

Reyes, and that was some years ago.
I would never blame Moreno for looking bad in your defence right now. You either signed a left back or a winger, at his age it is asking too much for him to come to a new league/team/life and do both, this is why i am prepared to give Shaw a fair bit more time to adjust before i judge him.
    Agree with the last bit.

You answered the question with Write Phillips. Chelsea played £23m.

Though I do feel they dented his career by not giving him enough game time.

I went for a player from another league to show the talent doesn`t always transfer to the Premier League ( plus i forgot Chelsea paid that much <whistle>).

Why did no one else compete with us for Suarez, Sturridge, Coutinho etc. while Man Utd & Chelsea fought legal battles over Mikel? Just the nature of transfers really...
