That's what the FA Cup is all about!! A small club getting its day in the sunshine. Should you guys get through this, I hope you pull another lower tier team away in the 5th and maybe QFs. I am convinced Manchester United's name is on the FA Cup this year to play ......... someone like Sunderland.
Southampton!!! Let's hope we can finish in the Top 4 to confound all the experts and some of the smug followers of Arsenal who seem to think they have a divine right to a Top 4 finish and of course Liverpool. Then we better hope that an English team does not win the Europa League. If we don't finish 4th then I hope it is Tottenham simply because the so-called experts think they are not good enough!!!
Yeh I get that, but at least one decent tie would have been welcome. I understand the idea of a small team being potential giant killers but often it's attrition vs lack of effort rather than a display of quality football on either side. I just feel that at least one decent match up between two top teams is still needed.
And you get the lowest ranked team left in it Ever heard of warm balls Dave? And no I dont mean when you have thick y fronts on
Yep away from home, packed stadium and most probably on a cold monday night under the lights, dont forget the hype of "Giant killing" aswell.
Hence the worst draw for United and a massive giant killing or potential banana skin depending on your viewpoint. The RS gets the favourable home draw as expected. The FA doing their best for a celebratory Stevie send off.
Fingers crossed for you. I did predict a couple of months back that Southampton would be fighting for fourth spot with either Arsenal or Utd right up until near the end of the season. Here's hoping you can hold them off. Also Europa League doesn't matter. England can have up to five CL entrants next season so fourth place should still get a CL place even if an English team wins it.
This year we've had favourable draws so far, but it hasn't been like that for a while. The last few years we've been drawing a lot of PL teams early on. We even had City away in the 3rd round not so long ago. I personally would rather see us draw a PL team, as i don't really have much enthusiasm for a game against Cambridge
Deluded post! Even with fergie's treble winning team, visiting a lower league team was always a nightmare and a potential banana skin.
Manchester United's FA Cup tie at Cambridge United will be played on Friday 23 January to accommodate live television coverage on the BBC.
