    The Dylan lyric is:
"Here comes the story of the Hurricane
The man the authorities came to blame
For something that he hadn't done"

Was trying to stay semi-faithful to Bob's lyrics. FYI the original song is about how Hurricane is framed for a multiple murder. In our case Kane actually committed the murder so it wasn't a framing... understand?

Isn't that the song about Rubén 'hurricane' Carter, the boxer?

    Rubin, but yeah.
He's the one that, typical to Bob Dylan songs, actually did the thing that he was accused of.
Wrongly convicted, sure, but he still did it and freely admitted to a host of other crimes, including shooting at people.
Muggings, stabbings, shootings, beating up the woman that ran his freedom committee... classy guy.

Joe 'Joey' Gallo was a serious criminal too and not some misunderstood guy in unfortunate circumstances.

Yeah I know. I have Blood on the Tracks and love Bob Dylan. I was just joking about how the Chavs (and Jose in particular) tend to be more concerned with imaginary sins against them that we're not actually done.

    Woah! Woah! Woah!

Rubin Carter did the murder?! When was this established?

I know he was a bit of a crook who had a gun on him but...

It hasn't been established either way and it never will be.
The conduct of the police at the time was appalling and racist, but it's highly likely that he was the right guy, yet wrongly convicted.

If you're going by the film though Lenny, then that's been established as being horribly inaccurate.
Joey Giardello, the winner of the supposedly fixed fight, even sued over the portrayal, receiving an out of court settlement and a minor footnote about his ability on subsequent DVDs.

I love Dylan as a musician but you get the impression he was duped on this particular protest. It's a bit like Hitchens' support of the Iraq war.

Blimey PNP - glad you won't be on my jury!* No reasonable doubt for you?

Nah - not seen the film. Just know the song, the general story and, after reading your comment, had a quick Google to see if there was some deathbed confession or new DNA evidence or something.

Not surprised that the film is full of inaccuracies.

    * Just to clarify - I'm not going to be on trial any time soon that I know of. Anyway, I'm white so no need for the police and judicial system to waste their time...

I'm all for reasonable doubt Lenny and I agree with the convictions being thrown out, but he still seems a very likely candidate, doesn't he?
It annoys me when people like him are thrown in with those who were clearly innocent and blatantly fitted up.

I've seen some Millwall fan try to take the piss out of us for selling the game on DVD.

It obviously didn't occur to him that, the last time Millwall had a game that people might actually pay to watch again, it was when Kane and Mason were both on loan there...
