Barclays English Premier League club Sunderland are reportedly interested in bringing Nigeria international striker, Brown Ideye, over to the Hawthorns.

Respected British publications, The Mirror and The Daily Star, are reporting that Ideye’s time at the Hawthorns may be up following his record £10million transfer from Ukrainian club, Dynamo Kyiv in July.

The 26-year-old has failed to impress following his move to the Midlands and has scored just twice in 12 appearances on the back of a summer in which he was excluded from his country’s World Cup squad.

Sunderland were in the running for Ideye at the end of last season and hope a £6million offer will persuade new Albion manager Tony Pulis to sell.

Pulis had dropped a very strong hint on Saturday that there will be a lot of transfer activity at West Brom this month.

“We have a difficult job on our hands. A lot of clubs are fighting for survival. “This will be a big window for us. We need to strengthen the team and the squad,” Pulis was quoted as saying by the club’s official website, www.wba.co.uk shortly after watching the Baggies trounce Gateshead 7-0 in the FA Cup.

Tbh mate I remember watching him for Dynamo kyiv and he looked a good powerful forward
He got something along the lines of 30 in 55 games or something over there

Think if he got the service then he would be a good player for us
Would definitely try get the fee down from £6m though

I have no problem in accepting the opinons/views of those who know better than me (plenty).

It`s so easy to get lost in what is good/bad/agent/gossip/media/hype. etc. quite impossible.

Sunderland are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon this month.

According to The Sun, the Black Cats have “joined the race” for the signature of the 27-year-old England international, who is reportedly also on the radars of Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion.

The report also states that clubs in Italy and Dubai are interested in Lennon, but it does not mention any names.

According to various reports in the British media in recent weeks, Tottenham are willing to let go of Lennon but only if they are offered £7 million as transfer fee.

SUNDERLAND are keeping a close eye on developments in the Premier League’s loan market.

The Black Cats still have one domestic loan available this month, with Liverpool centre-half Sebastian Coates the only player to arrive on a temporary move from a fellow top flight club during the summer window.

Sunderland have been repeatedly linked with Chelsea’s Mohamed Salah, although the Egyptian winger looked to be on his way to Inter Milan last week prior to the Italian club signing Lukas Podolski on loan from Arsenal.

And the Black Cats have also been mentioned among a host of clubs credited with an interest in Spurs duo Andros Townsend and Aaron Lennon, but the White Hart Lane outfit are understood to be looking to sell, rather than loan players out.

Head coach Gus Poyet admits a second domestic loan is a distinct possibility this month, although he warns that there is plenty of competition for those surplus to requirements from the Premier League’s heavyweights.

Poyet told the Echo: “We’ve got one Premier League loan still.

“I think sometimes it’s the easiest one to do, but the problem is the competition.

“Normally, if there’s one, everyone wants him.

“This transfer market is difficult this time.

“I’ve found it more relaxed, but difficult.”

Sunderland were close to signing Manchester City midfielder Bruno Zuculini on a six-month loan during the summer, before the move was scuppered by red tape.

City were willing to let Zuculini leave after signing him from Argentine club Racing Club, but under Financial Fair Play regulations, the champions were unable to let him join another Premier League club during the same window.

Zuculini ended up moving to La Liga outfit Valencia on loan, although there has been speculation in Spain that he could move to Getafe this month.

But Poyet believes the new FFP rules have made it tougher to bring in players from fellow top flight clubs – something Sunderland have enjoyed success with over recent years.

“There are too many new rules,” he added.

“That has made the whole situation different.

“If a top team is able to buy a player and they can only loan him abroad – like Zucculini went to Valencia – then we lose out on that player.”

Im curious why we havent had a look at Ibrahim Afellay at Olympiakos

Greek market should be relatively flat atm due to their economy so why not stick a small bid in with Mavrias on loan for the remainder of the season

Then we have a pacey left winger who along with PVA is dutch helping him settle in

28 too so got a good 3-4 seasons in him

in 14 (826 minutes of football) appearances, 6 of which in the CL he has 4 goals and 2 assists

Werder Bremen may have only signed Polish playmaker Ludovic Obraniak in January 2014, but already things are turning sour between the club and the player.

The 30-year-old left Bordeaux for Germany almost a year ago, but had featured in just 12 league games for the club - and he is now set for the exit.

Sporting Director Rouven Schroder has told German press that he's had enough of Obraniak, and that he will be sold this month having failed to impress at the Weserstadion.

"He had a few chances to play but we are not satisfied," said Schroder.

Obraniak has been unhappy for some time now, and he recently admitted that Sunderland and West Ham wanted to sign him in the summer.

"Sunderland and West Ham United had been in touch, but we could not find an agreement over a transfer," he told BILD in September. "I don't think that it is a problem to admit I want to move away (from Werder Bremen). This is not a mistake. It's just the way I am, it's my character. I like to point things out."

“My ambition is to play in Euro 2016 for Poland, therefore I need to play regular matches. It's just reasonable to move clubs because of that," he added.

The left footed midfielder seems more likely to join Sunderland than West Ham given the way the two teams have started the season, but his availability could well alert both teams this month.

Would of liked him a few year ago, not sure if im overly keen now

Meanwhile, Sunderland will loan players out themselves this month, with several members of the Under-21 squad departing.

Centre-half Tom McNamee is expected to join non-league Boston on loan next week – following in a lengthy list of Sunderland youngsters to link up with the Pilgrims over the last year.

Goalkeeper Joel Dixon, currently on loan with Boston, is attracting interest from Conference side Alfreton Town, while defender David Ferguson is also on the verge of departing on loan.

And as the Echo reported last month, midfielder Connor Oliver is attracting interest from Blackpool, with the Championship basement boys expected to seal a move for the 20-year-old.

Only really Townsend we have been linked with on loan isnt there?

Jermain Defoe has landed in the UK to build up his fitness with a view to a loan move back to the Premier League.

The MLS season ended last month and FC Toronto striker Defoe has been heavily linked with a short-term move to a host of top-flight English clubs, including Liverpool and Tottenham.

Earlier today Defoe tweeted: "Just touched down in the UK from south of France, was training with my fitness guy feeling stronger than ever! ‪#‎Ready‬"

Liverpool are looking to bolster their attacking options due to Daniel Sturridge's injury problems and Mario Balotelli's lack of form. The 32-year-old is a proven goalscorer and could provide a good temporary fix.

Defoe scored 90 goals in 274 league appearances over two spells for Tottenham and a romantic return to White Hart Lane could be appealing.

Sunderland, Hull and Leicester are also keen to sign him but QPR look like they could be out of the running after they secured the loan signing of West Ham forward Mauro Zarate earlier today.

EGYPTIAN winger Mohamed Salah is expected to remain at Chelsea this month, despite being heavily linked with a loan move to Sunderland.

Salah was a name who cropped up on Sunderland’s radar during the summer and the £11million wideman has again been mooted as an option to the Black Cats’ goal-scoring problems in this transfer window.

But the Echo understands that there have been no fresh talks this month with Sunderland over a loan move for the 22-year-old, who joined Chelsea 12 months ago.

And sources close to the player have indicated that, despite interest from the Premier League, along with Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan, Salah is likely to still be at Stamford Bridge when the window shuts, with Chelsea fighting on four fronts for silverware.

However, as reported earlier this week, Gus Poyet does envisage signing a player on loan from one of Sunderland’s Premier League rivals, with one of the two domestic loans still available to the Black Cats after the summer signing of Liverpool’s Sebastian Coates.

Sunderland will be patient, though, and are likely to wait until closer to the end of the window to see which players are available on loan from the Premier League’s heavyweights.

A solution to Sunderland’s goalscoring problems will be the priority, with the Black Cats netting just 18 goals in 20 top flight outings so far this season.

There has been speculation in France that Marseille frontman André-Pierre Gignac could be one name on Sunderland’s radar to fill that void, with his contract with the league leaders expiring in the summer.

But sources close to Marseille have indicated that the 29-year-old, who has also been tracked by Galatasaray, Dynamo Kiev, Inter and AC Milan, will leave the club on a Bosman at the end of the season, rather than moving this month.

The focus on attacking recruits will almost certainly postpone any move for Celtic centre-half Virgil van Dijk until the summer.

Sunderland were eager to land van Dijk at the start of the season and continue to keep tabs on him, with chief scout Steve Houston watching Celtic’s 2-0 win at Kilmarnock on Monday night.

But head coach Poyet has already indicated that Sunderland are likely to wait until the summer to move for a new defender.

Sunderland are not willing to match Celtic’s £8m price tag this month either, with the SPL champions, likewise, not expecting a bid from the Black Cats.

Meanwhile, Wigan boss Malky Mackay has confirmed he is in the market for a new striker, amid speculation that Danny Graham could join the Championship outfit on loan.

Graham returned to the Stadium of Light last week after the end of a loan spell at Wolves

TMW reported that the Black Cats were looking at Acerbi last week, and were planning to make an offer for the 26-year-old Sassuolo central defender.

It is the same media outlet who have reported that the Italian club are expecting two official offers from Premier League sides this week, and, although there is no way to identity either club attempting to sign him, one would suspect that Sunderland will be turning their long-term interest into a concrete offer.

GUS POYET has ruled out a loan move for Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo during this month's transfer window.

The Black Cats head coach is hoping to strengthen his side's attacking resources before the end of the month, and had been linked with a possible move for Sanogo, who is still to score his first senior goal in Arsenal colours.

Earlier this morning, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger revealed he is looking to loan out the 21-year-old during the second half of the season, but Poyet will not be making a pitch for the French youngster.

When asked whether Sanogo was a January target, he simply said: "No."

Poyet also revealed there has been no approach for Jozy Altidore despite mounting speculation linking the struggling striker with a return to the United States before the transfer window closes.

He said: "They seem to know more in America than me. Right now there has been nothing, and Jozy is in the squad tomorrow (to face Liverpool). We have named 19 at the moment."

Sunderland's injury problems have eased considerably since last weekend's FA Cup win over Leeds United, with Wes Brown and Billy Jones both available. However, Jack Rodwell is still to return to training, Lee Cattermole is unlikely to be risked and Anthony Reveillere faces a late fitness test tomorrow morning.

Poyet said: "We're better. We need to wait on a couple of things but Billy is all right, Anthony is touch and go, but Wes is back to normal.

"Ricky Alvarez has recovered from illness and we have better options, but Jack won't train until Monday. It's just a matter of making sure he gets the right rest and not to taking any risks."
