They're closing the Jimmy McIlroy stand which according to the Football Ground website, is a double tiered home stand. Away fans are housed at the opposite end of the ground, so I assume our allocation will be unaffected.
Might be more Spurs fans there than Burnley's,hence the closing of the stand.Perhaps the people of Burnley are Man U fans......
After our unbelievable festive games we now go to Burnley on Monday for the 3rd round of the cup. Will MP make wholesale changes or just a few tweaks to rest key players? Mason unlikely due to his hamstring injury and Rose after being assaulted by Cahill. Thoughts lads?
Vorm Yedlin, Vlad/Dier/ Veljkovic, Davies Stambouli, Capoue Lennon, Dembele, Lamella Soldado Bench:Winks, Ceballos, Onuwa etc
I've looked up Spurs v Burnley in the cup and Burnley in general and they haven't done too badly at tmes. We beat them in 1962 in the final and they reached the semis in the seventies losing to Malcolm MacDonald's Newcastle so they have history. I'm staying cautious as we only scraped a win recently. However if the last match is a season changer and our form has changed for the better then I'll go for a narrow Spurs win.
Yup would be happy with that, though Capoue seems unlikely given the rumours on his falling out - would prefer Paulinho. When's Yedlin joining?
Yedlin joined last summer and went back on loan so IMO should be available immediately-although I am sure someone like OS could correct me on that. He should already be match fit as he was playing not so long ago.
I would field a fairly strong team, not because I would be desperate to stay in this cup as to make reasonable effort to keep our good run going. Rotate the players who have been rotated, but no other changes. I'm not sure if I'd start Dembele in Chadli's place, or pair him with Stambouli, though. Vorm Chiriches Vertonghen Fazio (though I'd like to see Dier) Davies Stambouli Dembele/Paulinho Townsend (though Lennon wouldn't be a bad choice) Eriksen Chadli/Dembele Kane (though I could see starting Soldado)
Would have thought the OS and other news sources would have made a subsequent mention of Yedlin becoming available for us... seems lax. Judging from his Twitter he flew over here a couple of days before New Year, the Chelsea game was the first one he has watched at the Lane.
Part of me thinks we should rest everyone but I get the feeling, particularly from what Townsend said, that most if not all probably want to play. So I'd only leave out a few for players that probably need a rest or for players that deserve a game. Vorm Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Davies Stambouli, Dembele Townsend, Eriksen, Chadli Soldado.
Well I'm off to the game tonight (and its freezamagating up here) so hope we put in a fair effort tonight Nothing worse than bitching, griping & moaning in the cold (and I should know...)
I'd take Eriksen, Kane and Chadli with us but on the bench and play Paulinho in behind Soldado with Dembele and Stambouli sitting, and Lennon and Lamela on the wings. I'd also give Dier game time at CB with Vlad, Naughton or Yedlin at RB and Davies at LB. I'd also take players like Onomah and Winks and Ceballos so they can get minutes if we feel comfortable enough.
We're probably out of luck for a stream tonight. It doesn't look like anyone in the world is showing our game. Someone tell me I'm wrong.
Nice to see that the FA Cup draw is tonight, before a number of teams have even played. Just another way in which the association is cheapening their own tournament, rather idiotically.
