This is who is looking into the case.... The Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) is an independent public body that was set up in March 1997 by the Criminal Appeal Act 1995. Our purpose is to review possible miscarriages of justice in the criminal courts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland and refer appropriate cases to the appeal courts. The Commission is based in Birmingham and has about 90 staff, including a core of about 50 caseworkers, supported by administrative staff. There are eleven Commissioners, appointed in accordance with the Office for the Commissioner for Public Appointments' Code of Practice. They work with the Senior Management Team to ensure the Commission runs efficiently. We are completely independent and impartial and do not represent the prosecution or the defence.
CPS did not pursue. I have a theory about that but it is speculation and probably libellous. Of course there is still Danny Simpson attacking the bloke who nicked his phone (allegedly) and Ravel Morrison having a go at his ex and her mother (allegedly) to keep us entertained. Such fun.
I would have commented on this earlier but I've been too busy running people over and filming orgies with colleagues because some footballers have done that in the past. The whole Evans case was ludicrous from the start. He was a drunk bloke who shagged a drunk girl. If a club wants to sign him that should be the end of it.
Good point. So he's seeking a review with the hope of getting permission to appeal. Effectively adds one extra level on the appeal structure and delays things still further assuming he gets permission.
Well I think it all looks very fishy. I would love to see a time that if it was later proven that it was not rape ( or what the Uk calls rape ) then the false accuser gets a long prison sentence. The story is just about tickling the public .. it's a footballer and therefore makes headlines which is far more important than the effects on a person's life in the UK ... Low profile rapes don't even make the news A nation hooked into a drama **** take stock ... we are ants
Not that much older than adolescent but I'd like to think if I was 15 and we signed Ched Evans today I wouldn't be out raping in Watford tonight.
Good to hear it, but most youngsters are impressionable and the role model point seems to me to be relevant to serious offences like rape.
are any right thinking youngsters going to find him a role model now does anyone here think footballers are role models
Me neither. I was bothered enough to look at the 'evidence' on Evans' website and some of it does appear to be contradictory, especially the victim's social media posts that were deleted but subsequently retrieved. I guess only an appeal court judge can make the 'right' call so we'll leave them to get on with it.
Whether he did or didn't commit the crime is almost irrelevant, he will saddled with the stigma for the rest of his natural. If it were any other profession but football then I don't suppose there would have been an eyebrow raised, he is after all just trying to earn a living. Does anyone have the right to prevent him doing that? I did hear on the radio driving home that one of Oldham's main sponsors have said they will pull the plug if Evans signs, which probably knocks it on the head. One thing I wonder if Evans has really given enough thought to is the amount of abuse that will rain down from the terraces from opposing fans, he will be crucified!
Gotta love the rational people of this Nation OLDHAM CHAIRMAN STEPS DOWN? According to local paper the Oldham Chronicle, Oldham Athletic chairman Simon Corney has resigned as chairman of the football club. Some of the board and their families - as well as some sponsors - received death threats during their pursuit of signing Ched Evans, according to Sky sources.
