Anyone know why one of the headlines on Sky's Transfer Centre is "Schneiderlin Future" ?

Because, by his own admission, he's remaining at Saints, at least until the summer. Then maybe..

So if Toby doesn't sign, Schneiderlin, Rodriguez, Clyne and Wanyama go, the same number of players would go who left last summer. I know they can be replaced, but I would like to keep hold of these players a bit longer for sentimental value.

At least the last 2 pages have had very little to do with the January 2015 transfer window apart from the piece on Morgan staying which, to be honest we all knew anyway. Other clubs / pundits don't think he is worth what we wanted in the summer and his value is higher now due to form and January premium.

But other than that there has been post after post of doom and gloom merchants talking about who they expect to leave in the summer. If people really want to do this to themselves then can we please have another thread for it? Mods?

(You could even use the Black Box thread I started if it hasn't been locked as that is based on the assumption that certain players will leave for one reason or another (but tried to take the approach of discussing who could replace them))

I don't firmly believe that at all. I firmly believe that we accepted bids for the others because they were good offers. We didn't let Schneiderlin go because we didn't get a good offer in. It has been nicely spun that he was not for sale and would be staying but if someone had offered a decent bid in the region of £25m - £30m it would have been accepted and the board would've suffered the fan backlash.

On the reverse if the offer for Lallana had stayed at a level the board weren't happy at and then he had done his 'never wearing the shirt again' I firmly believe the club would have taken him to the court and made a stance.

Its all about money. It can be spun many ways but if a good offer had come in Schneiderlin would've gone as well and the club would've found a different spin to put on it. May well be why Clasie took so long to sign his extension. Maybe he was being lined up as a replacement and Morgan staying put paid to that.

I agree with the poster above r.e. Man U. I have long said that he would be a good replacement for Carrick. I dare say he would actually be an improvement on Carrick at his peak and that is saying something.

Well considering how long they have had to set up new signings, there doesn't seem to be much happening anywhere? Not even any decent impossible rumours to mull over, could this be the most boring window ever?

Bruno Martins Indi rumours have started again. Sky say we've been scouting him all season. He can play across the back four and would give our defence fantastic depth and add physicality. Gratned, not a priority for January by any means but would be delighted with this (although hope it's not an Indi OR Alderweild situation in the long term).

Had the same thought. Then banished it. Jose has got better with experience. I think he could be like John Terry at Chelsea and just adapt and get better every season.

Winston Reid leaving West Ham in the summer (I'm going to be told off for putting this on the January thread now, aren't I). I mean, I know he'll go to Arsenal or something, but would love him here.

He plays attacking mid. He can play either lm, rm or cm. Not a defensive midfielder tho.
