As usual I find myself wide awake in the early hours of the morning!!
I'm very jealous of all who continually manage a decent nights sleep.
Speaking to a friend this evening, she said "I'm a grumpy bitch in the morning if I don't get a solid 8-10 hours sleep".
I found it unbelievable that people can grab that much kip!?
It got me wondering... What do YOU call a decent nights sleep??
I for one regularly manage on 2 hours sleep a night and often get less than that whilst working away.
Sweet dreams you 'lazy' lot.... I'll get back to the Darts (re-run)!!
SKY TV... Aiding insomnia since 1990 !!

I'm happy with at least 6 hours sleep, at weekends I do lie in and normally get about 8 hours.

I'd be over the moon with 6 hours BK.... Glad to hear you get a 'lie-in' at the weekend too!?
That makes me 'doubly' jealous... Ha ha!!

Varies, last night was 4 hours, but tomorrow could easily be 8.

I'm a night person and never go to bed early, and there lies the problem. Why i'm usually knackered at work.

8 hours usually, sometimes 6/7 but mostly 8.

I'm awake for 6am every week day to train, I'm usually tired by 8:30pm

I used to struggle to sleep but training, eating well and having a routine really helps.

Try a meal around 8pm full of complex carbs, no sugars, change to Decaff coffee after 12 mid day, read instead of watching tele (reduces melatonin levels), don't look at phone/laptop too late at night, take a hot shower before bed, get good cotton bedding or T-shirt bedding because the poly cotton stuff is awful for relaxing. Avoid diet drinks such as diet coke and so on at night, they contain lots of caffeine and chemicals that keep the brain working hard. Lastly, check for bed bugs, bed bugs have psychological effects on humans believe it or not, which can cause symptoms related to depression and anxiety.

Obviously try one at a time and see what works.

Jeez I know some boring stuff!

By the sounds of it, don't think Terry will be testing out this theory.

He's probably of now to do some press ups, in a hot scented bath, with orchid flowers floating around, whilst sipping elderberry tea.:emoticon-0107-sweat

I have problems with sleep but its all down to my work and lifestyle. I work all round the world and so have to adjust to different time zones and sleeping on planes or tour buses. Then when I am in the UK I work late at the weekends. In the week my wife is up at 7.30am and I have to take her to work

What I have found works best for me is avoid caffine at all costs or any sort of energy drink or anything with excess sugar in it. Turn off devices like you laptop, phone and TV. Relax and try not to think about stress (in my case work).

I have got quite good at sleeping anywhere now, I could not sleep on planes a few years ago but now I usually get 6 hours on a long haul flight in economy, if I am in business in a bed they have to wake me up before landing usually.

My friend uses something called Mellotonin (I think its called) which works well for him, I have not tried it yet as I have not had trouble sleeping. He swears by it. Also if your in the USA get some unisom, its bloody strong though so don't mix it with other drugs like alcohol or anything else.

Always had trouble with sleep like quite a few on here by the sound of it. There's nowt worse than lying awake stressing about not sleeping and that only makes it worse.

Then I read about "big sleep and little sleep". Apparently 8 hrs sleep was a Victorian invention and before that many people used to have 2 sleeps a night. Many tribal and non-industrial societies still do. They spend an hour or so round the campfire, talking **** and eating, more **** probably.

Go to bed as normal, 10-11 ish. I usually wake up about 2ish, get straight up and go downstairs for an hour. I watch TV but that may not suit everyone. Have a cold drink. About 3 back up to bed till 6.

Since I started doing that my sleep patterns are better and I never feel knackered from lack of sleep.

Try that for a few weeks mate, might work for you too.

My ideal day would be a 29 hour day. 24 awake with 5 hours sleep. But the world doesn't work that way. Maybe I'd be better suited to another planet. <laugh>

This was supposed to be our future as predicted by 60's life style experts and planners, new technology was going to give us so much spare time we would not know what to do with it. And I believed it, what went wrong?

Some useful suggestions there... I'm liking the 'big' sleep / 'little' sleep idea although I don't think for one minute it'll work !!
As for your solution Comm.... The alcohol :emoticon-0167-beer: induced coma used to be part of my daily routine but as I'm now 'drier' than Dot Cottons 'clout' unfortunately it's not an option :emoticon-0132-envy:
