The FAW didn't do us any favours - but always did so for Cardiff. We are now under the auspices of the FA for disciplinary matters, and always have been since being promoted to the EPL.
Tom Carroll joined us on loan at the start of the season - he suits our style. It would be great if we could sign him. No - not from Cardiff, went to Uni there in the late 1970s. The team I played for was named Taff Vale Rowdies ( from Tampa Bay Rowdies). I'm from near Swansea.
It was frankly an appalling ref display for the whole game and also sums up the FA inconsistency. I'd have had no complaints if Henry got red. Routledge rightly got red under the laws as stated but it's pathetic and overturning it was wrong. Nobody has even mention OBZ getting pulled down as he broke free just into swans half, That too should have been a red. Could have been 4 in the match!
My impression is that the general standard of both the football and the refereeing in the PL has headed southwards since last season No statistics to back this up - just what I've seen / read That said the number of camera angles at any match makes it nigh on impossible not to be able to easily dissect displays (both players and referees) in the nth level of detail after the event, and referees have to make split second decisions at the time. Part of me hopes that this feature of the game never disappears, but it also frustrates me that there are so many inconsistencies between how different referees see similar events
This last bit made me laugh. The FAW is made up of many cardiff season ticket holders. We were screaming to get away from the FAW for years because of their blatant bias towards Cardiff and against ourselves. We actually wanted to be governed under the FA so we'd get a fair shout . Say what you like about the FA, but you can't deny that they are consistently **** to all teams, not just **** to a particular team. I'd choose them any day of the week.
The incident happened directly in front of me and I thought Routledge raised his hand to Henry and hit/pushed him in the face. It was a certain red as far as I could see.
I'm glad Routledge had it quashed, simply because he was a good servant for us. But should it have been? No, he kicked out, maybe like a little girl, but he did kick out. How many red cards have we had in the last few years for similar half hearted retaliation (cisse headbutt, Barton headbutt, both head to head rather than headbutt), how many did we have rescinded? None! The FA and their appointed referees seem to be getting worse rather than better. They hold a dubious goals panel simply to make sure the betting industry can pay out on goals, yet they do naff all to make sure the game is officiated in the fairest manner. I don't want to see football go the same way as the Yank version, with the number of contentious issues in a match we could still be sitting there at 6pm. But why can they not re-watch the match and deal with punishments in the cool light of day, ensuring there is consistency with it's retrospective action. This has got to include yellow cards as well as Reds. It might not mean that the correct decision is made on the day, but it would take some pressure of the Referee if they know it will be looked at again.
To be fair, we mainly played Cardiff in recent years so it would be a bit skewed by that. From 04/05 to 12/13 we were only in the same division as you for one season.
