Pearce has just spent close to 10m and what has he done with them really Chippy you are showing naivety
mHowe Bournemouth paid compensation around £1m to get him back and the players he brought to Burnley have done him proud INGS AND SHACKELL
Fair enough, fingers crossed that we are in a better shape two years on from when he took over. I hope you are right, I hope he turns it around and I prey we do not go down this season or his two year plan is scuppered. I only asked because one moment you are against those with negative views expecting more and the next you are saying stuff like... Those three quotes alone do not sound like you are that happy with the squad, the way it has taken shape and the lack of progress
Of course I'm not happy. Not happy with any of the past decade, any of it. However, I never expected a six month fix unless we got the man city owners. I'm willing to give Cellino more time and see how he gets on. If we survive relegation, all our **** players will be out of contract and gone and any of Cellinos signings that haven't worked out. If there's nothing to look forward to next season, I may as well pack in supporting them altogether
But you compared last years and this years teams to piles of dog ****, called them rubbish and that the squad has got worse and the set-up is a complete shambles? Not for the first time you have commented or started a thread complaining about how to keep the "natives happy" and fussy Leeds fans, the quotes and the statement don't go hand in hand or maybe it is just me not understanding where you are coming from on this one. Surely you are either happy with the progress give it time we are moving in the right direction or you are unhappy with it and things are getting "progressively worse" (your words) which would surely put you in the 'natives' camp..
Not sure how I can explain it any better than the last comment I made. I'm pissed at how bad we are and have been for a very long time. As much as I want a quick fix, I realise it won't be and there will likely be more crap before things begin to improve. Can't be any clearer Ristac
The point is that Pearce has indeed bought the players and that's why he isn't management material. I would suggest his coaching of England's kids prove that he is a decent coach of young kids.... Our squad is largely made up of Young kids.... Can you not see the connection?
But he left because his family wanted to be back down south. He might have the talent to be the next whiskey chops but if he cant work oop North it matters not to us does it? Perhaps we should relocate to the south coast to make it happen?
Stuart Pearce was shyte with England, shyte with Man City and now obviously shyte with shyte trees, but then thats the fault of the trees owners and doesn't mean nothing to us as he was never a manager anyway. Micvk McCarthy is a different deal as he saved wolves for years and as oon as they got rid the club imploded and dropped 2 divisions. he takes over a skint backwater pub team and makes them promotion favourites within 2 seasons. Massive difference between him and pearce because bog Mick has history. Leeds fans will always moan and there will never ever be one voice and thats why we will always see arguments like this. We also have the usual unrest being caused outside the club from Harvey, Bates and now the bloke Farnham who is trying to con the fans again because he wants a piece of the club. he doesn't want to use his own money but fans money to buy GFH's 25%. We don't need these car salesmen, we need an rich owner and right now Cellino is the best we've got so needs giving more time. Just my view though, and by the way Redders needs sending back to the kids and we need a manager
THIS IS NOT a dig at anyone, it is a genuine question... Can anyone actually list a few points of what Cellino has done that we can cheer about apart from the initial purchase and saving us from possible bankruptcy. Don't get me wrong, like I said in a previous post I am grateful for that but should we forever be indebted to him, he put his money in at a time of need just like Bates did and look where we ended up with Bates at the helm far too long. I think everyone will agree that we were losing £1m a month, it doesn't matter how, that was the figure. Last season when Cellino stepped in we were paying 25% of gate money to a silly loan that Bates had us into, that finished at the start of this season. Just a rough estimate £32 a ticket, 23 home games, average attendance 24,680 = £18m (rounded down) - That is a saving of £4.5m on the year. This figure does not include the sponsorship income that was also put against it. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/dec/18/leeds-shaun-harvey-yorkshire-radio We got shot of Yorkshire Radio, we got shot of a lot of players who were on big money and we have replaced them with 15 players said to be on affordable wages, if these 15 players were on an average of £3k a week less than their counterparts that is another saving of around £200k a month. Just these pointers alone we are now saving £700k a month so are we still losing money? True nobody knows the extent of the money he is having to put in but we do know he sold Ross and Smith for a lot more than went out on transfer fee's. We know a lot of back room staff lost their jobs, again does anyone believe we are still losing money on a monthly basis?? The only facts we have are the league position which reflects on the quality of the players, coach or both - It doesn't matter if it is the players, or the coach, or both, Cellino is responsible for all of those appointments. What is the answer, I don't have one, we didn't have an answer when Bates was in charge either, we just hoped he would sell us one day. I have no choice but to give Cellino more time, I am just not going to sing his praises or believe we are going to ever be anything other than a Championship club with him in charge. I remember people saying give GFH and McD a chance, I said then we will never be promoted under that combination, sometimes you do not need years to see things are never going to be right and this is one of those occasions.
Damn good post Ristac My hope is that Cellino gets another year maybe two in charge and at the end of his tenure, we are a decent championship club operating within our means and hopefully no GFH involvement. If he achieves all that, hell have done a lot. At least then, any would be buyers would have a clean set of books to look at and not a debt ridden corpse of a club. We might even one day get the arab sheikh with pots of money we deserve
I was thinking the other day, if Risdale had not took that almighty gamble and we had built on the early 90's team in a more sensible manner would we have attracted the big money takeover. All ifs and buts I know and I am as guilty as anyone for living the dream while it lasted and I have to say it was exciting. I remember going back to work one lunchtime hearing that we had just signed Robbie Fowler, I believed that was it, he was the final link that was required to propel is to unbeatable. How wrong was I and it seems such a long time ago now.
Timing was our biggest problem. We collapsed just as the big money arrived in the pl. Had we survived even another two seasons we could have paid off Risdales debt. Thats assuming of course, he didnt manage to carry on amassing more, which he likely would. When Newcastle were relegated, they were in as precarious a position as us, but partly due to the fact, Ashley couldnt find a buyer, they rode their luck and went straight back up and all is well with them again. Our clowns panicked at the point of our relegation
The problem under Ridsdale was it wasn't the type of debt you could negotiate some time on ... Pistol Pete signed players on LEASE AGREEMENTS which meant massive monthly instalments, plus he put players on sensational wages ... this meant the only way to try and service the debt was to sell, sell, sell ... everyone knew the situation so Leeds were forced to offload players at huge losses just to try and keep the doors open ... Ridsdale is still the single biggest cause of our fall from grace and continuing struggles Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Ristac, Billy, Eire and Co. We was mortgaged up to Billy'sballs with what PR Pete did, however if we had have reached the CL that season (Only just missed it) we could have salvaged something and the huge prem money from Sky was just about to kick in. We owned the club, TA and ER and were in the process of having a new stadium being built on the M! near Stourton by Coca Coal. Yes it was going to be the coca Cola stadium but the club got to sell ER and keep all the money from the sale, and have a free stadium. There was already talk going on regarding cashing in on TA and having Coca Cola build a second development between the new stadium and the golf courses. One more season could have been the difference? Right now Cellino is all we have and without him and his cash we're liquidated. Even though he's cust costs the club still loses out because of the deals GFH struck for themselves and cash is syphoned straight out. Fook knows why Cellino has brought in the guy who Bates brought in to do a deal with GFH. he's now on the board ffs so no idea what they all do it's like monopoly with this lot, but we need Cellino and we need to see what he can do, because all he's done so far is fire fight
