If true, they'd be signing them for the sole reason of preventing him signing for Spurs or Arsenal, as both clubs have done numerous times over the years.

What's so infuriating about this practise is that nothing can be done about it - so clubs have to wait until said player become availables on loan 18 months later.

We need to find young players who will grow into matching Chelsea's best. There's no point at all in signing someone who is their third choice - that's settling for mediocrity.

Once we've found them we have to keep hold of them as well

I see in the news today "Lampard to stay at City" shocker has miffed the NYC fans. Anyone gullible enough to think he was ever going to leave the PL and play in the MLS needs a reality check. That deal was always designed to allow Lampard to go to City via an indirect path to avoid a Chav backlash. Seems to have backfired big time looking at twitter today. :emoticon-0172-mooni

Our former youth full back, Kevin Stewart, who joined Liverpool in the summer, has been loaned out to Cheltenham Town for a month.

Would like to think that the Spurs Academy would have got the boy a far better loan out than that.

20 mill for Berahino, I don't think he fits us regardless of price so I hope he goes to Liverpool. We don't want Remy either.

I'd take both Berahino and Remy for Soldado and Adebayor, providing the money was right in all aspects.

I wouldn't pay more than £12M for Berahino and no more than £8m for Remy. Ade I think we can get our £5m back and Soldado, I think £12m-£15m would be reasonable, we'll never recoup the £26m we paid but I'm sure a team in Spain or Italy would see £12m-£15m as good business.

That said, we have no chance of getting Remy, Chelsea just won't deal with us.

I'd love Berahino at the club but we'll have to bite the bullet on the transfer fee, he's hit form again at exactly the wrong time for us to start negotiating.

Given how the young players seem to be vastly outperforming the older players under Pochettino it might be worth taking the hit. I think we'd have to sell Ade before a bid was even considered unfortunately but I'm sure there must be other talented youngsters that work very hard out there though and I'm sure Mitchell's on the case.

Well I've been catching up with the ITK stuff since the Summer - very interesting stuff (not all about transfers) and explains a lot of what we've been seeing.

I won't go into all of it (as it's all on another site) - however, some of the finer points are below:

    - Transfer policy is as usual - sell to buy. Apparently, we're at the limiter on wages (though we have cash to buy)
    - Adebayor and Kane had a bust-up after the Stoke defeat. According to the ITK, Kaboul (and a few others) sided with Adebayor but the rest of the squad sided with Kane. Note that, since then, Adebayor and Kaboul haven't played as far as I can remember.
    - Those up for a move away - Lennon, Adebayor and Paulinho (all dependent on price we get). Not sure on Soldado's status.
    - Interest in Schneiderlin and Rodriguez has cooled - Saints want too much for the former and Rodriguez is still not back from injury. I think we're still keen on Rodriguez but can wait till Summer
    - Apparently Leicester are interested in Naughton and Lennon.
    - We're keen on getting a striker as always (and also a CB and wide forward). From a CB POV, apparently we're still keen on Hector Moreno.
    - There is interest from us in this Rabiot guy from PSG (who's name I've already seen mentioned in here).

Those are the main points - the bust-up I wasn't aware of but it makes sense.

I like the look of Berahino too. But, unfortunately, he's Young, English, and WBA are bound to demand a ridiculous fee for him - especially in mid-season. I Can't see it happening.

Ditto - I could've guessed it was about Adebayor's effort as that's what fans at every club he's been at have commented on

Doubt that fella will be getting much more inside information though ! Fancy saying who told him ffs ! Brave of the young lads to stand up for themselves anyway. Fair play to them, and for Poch for having the balls to come out and stand up to them. At least we know what's happened to capoue now anyway.

Cheers for sharing that info Moorph and Rob. Very interesting about the young lads vs the elders. Makes sense too, we haven't seen Kaboul and Ade for ages where as Capoue got about 10 minutes vs Newcastle. Like Rob also said, it's good knowing the younger lads aren't allowing themselves to be bullied by the more senior guys and it's nice knowing Poch backs who he believes in the right, not the more popular/ senior player.
