Just like crinkle-cut boots, you haven't got a ruddy clue what his true motivations are any more than the rest of us. So give over on the pontification.
Hahaha, it's called an opinion, and a ****ing considered opinion at that, given the simple facts to hand MLS - ****e league Wage packet - £20m Motivation = No need for Poirot on this one me thinks....
Well, as usual, you only see what you want to see and then demand that you are right when you are just pissing in the wind. You know less than MITO
He knows its time to go, he knows there are moans from the crowd when he makes mistakes, Stevie Heighway and I an Callaghan(both great players for the club)stayed on for one to many seasons and used to get merciless stick at times in their latter season/s at the club. Stevie has more than earned the right to leave on his terms and whether he's going to the States for the money or the challenge or both I wish the lad well and thank him for his years at LFC and his backing of many community projects and charities on Merseyside. Thanks for the memories Stevie.
All I see is the simple facts, that you seem eager to ignore, because you want to make out Gerrard isn't chasing the dollar, when it's obvious to a ****ing blind man that he's going there for the coin. No shame in that btw, big money, nice lifestyle, sun on your back, but it's not a decision driven by football and only a complete galoot would try and argue otherwise
So Gerrard says he had the conversation with BR about managing his game time but he has played a lot! Do you all think BR has been starting him to much as he was a bit scared (for want of a better word) of benching Gerrard and giving him the impact sub of the last 20 mins or so? Would Gerrard have honestly kicked off if BR had benched him more?
He stated he wouldn't go and play for any of our rivals. Just for the record, I didn't say that money plays no part in the decision- I said that I think it's wrong to make out that that is the sole criterion for the decision. And I stand by that- unless he publicly states otherwise.
It would have been good if he'd gone to Italy to be honest. Maybe he considered it but there was no viable option? Would he have been good enough at 34 to play at that level? And in all honesty should he have left 2 years ago to go to somewhere like Juve when he would have made a real impact/difference and earned some more silverware.
You not being a local lad playing for a local club and being at that club since he was 8 years old find it easy to say "he should have left 2 years ago". Yes he wanted more success during his career and yes money and his stature within LFC played its part in him remaining, but loyalty works both ways, hes well paid for commitment, once Rodgers tells him he'll get less playing time the commitment wavers and its time to move on. Lots of players post Busby and pre Fergie wasted their carees at Utd treble(Lou Macari for one), but they were loved by the supporters even though they never brought much if any silverware to the club, silverware won isn't always the sign of a great player. I'm happy what he gave us and he will no no doubt be happy with what we gave him.
He went to LA to become a worldwide brand. He'd already cracked Europe and Asia but needed to get into the US. I like Becks and understood why he went to Real where he did better than most expected but he pissed away the last few years of his career. He knows that which is why having pledged his loyalty to the MSL he whored himself around Europe looking for loan deals and was picked up by clubs looking to promote themselves.
WTF are you on about Page Stop with the thick pea soup. I get all of that. It has nothing to do with what I'm saying. How the heck would leaving 2 years ago have shown any less loyalty from him? It doesn't even come into play, and I dare say many Liverpool fans would have wished him well. The only reason I said it was bcos at 32 he still would have been able to play at a high enough level and show himself among better players in a decent league like Italy. Would you begrudged him that, ofcourse not. It's just a sad fact of life he can't do it now.
Liverpool FC @LFC 26s27 seconds ago Gerrard: “I wish I’d met Brendan when I was 24 because I think I’d be sitting here talking about a lot of titles that we’d won together.” Delusion...or a parting shot at the fat Spanish waiter?
My point was your emphasis on "silverware", he's were he is and if he has any regrets in the future he'll have to live with it, but I've been happy with his loyalty down the years and don't begrudge him anything Treble.
Fingers crossed lads.... Gerrard when he scores the winner in the EL final, that puts Liverpool into the CL https://t.co/RO2y7DzkKi
Italian football isn't in a good state financially. I doubt any of the clubs over there could match the wages LA Galaxy have offered him.
