Not a single shot on target! Pathetic! I thought the lineup was a strong one considering. I don't think you can blame this one on Neil entirely. Surely the players need to shoulder most of the blame for this one. Awful.
Standard 3rd round exit. I swear to go, if we ever actually go on a 'cup run' during my lifetime I'll die of a heart attack.
agree about the players but the constant chopping and changing of first team personnel isnt helping IMO, we hardly have a unified 'team' as it is, confidence is very low and even worse when the manager doesnt have a clue what hes doing, it all drips down to the players and what we have to pay for to watch as fans. Cant wait to hear the excuses...
I mean, why even bother sending the first team to these games? You might as well just play the youth team or an academy side.
Short memories...quarters of the League cup a couple of seasons back, if I am not mistaken 5th round in the FA cup season before that.....TBH our cup form recently is as bad if not worse.!
If Turner and Bennett are our the best central defenders we have and Whittaker is our best right back we are in the ****.
Three decent players/ it's the management that's the problem- even v basic sports psychology makes it obvious that the level of individuals performance within teams is substantially influenced by coaching- ours is ****e at the moment
Deserved win for North End, your lads played some decent stuff with no end product, Redmond best of the Canaries, good luck for the rest of the season, but don't bank on going straight back up
As long as na and mp are aligned and the players acknowledge the supposed hierarchy- otherwise it fecks things up- my guess is that mp commands more respect than NA, which can have a v detrimental impact
Am I the only one who thinks it's not too bad to be out of the cup, fewer chances of key players picking up an injury from a keen but poorly talented player. Let's just concentrate on pushing on for the play-offs! Not too much of a "facup!"
Nice try Dave but this defeat clearly makes a mockery of your claims (not you personally) of how strong your squad is and boasting about how you would smash this division with the players you have!
Spot on dave! As long as we put in a spirited performance against Southampton tomorrow I'll be happy for us to be out of the Cup this time tomorrow, hopefully with no injuries or yellow cards... Both our teams have bigger fish to fry this season.
The individual players are good, but the system was strange again. Lower league opposition are normally pretty physical, so starting Hooper, Hoolahan and Redmond, with no target man striker, seems more than a little odd to me. Surely if you're going with one out-and-out striker against lower league teams, playing a wider striker like Lafferty or Grabban makes more sense? Hoolahan as a nominal wide player has never worked, forcing Howson to play deep never brings the best out of him. Miquel is an odd left back choice, but I can see that may have been forced by injuries. Under Hughton a very similar defence was well organised, but was let down by individual errors which could often be down to lack of confidence. Now we're against much poorer opposition, and we don't seem to know what we're doing at the back.
