It's called stating the bleeding obvious mate, I know it's St Stevie and I'm sure you'd have said exactly the same when Lampard announced his decision or Henry the same......
I agree with this. Any one considered what being in LA could do for his wifes modelling career? Could that be the motivation.
So Beckham at 31 who could have his pick of European sides, didn't go to the States for the £128m? Hahaha ok mate.
Steven Gerrard: Nine players who could potentially fill the Liverpool FC legend's boots Those still at the club Perhaps the answer is under Brendan Rodgers’ nose. Aside from Gerrard and Lucas Leiva, he does not have a central midfielder yet to hit 25. Jordan Henderson The obvious candidate. Expected to take the armband next season, the 24-year-old has featured in Liverpool’s midfield for three years. Although he thrived in an advanced position last season, he has also played deeper and has the energy and passing range to be a long-term solution. Emre Can The Germany Under-21 international is versatile - perhaps too versatile at the moment as he looks to pinpoint a full-time role at Anfield. Rodgers himself spoke of Can’s capability for the role after the win against Burnley. “His favourite position is more defensive. He likes to be in that central role and look to contain the game and challenge and be strong in the duel,” he said. Jordan Rossiter The sentimental choice - but not one lacking in reason either. The 17-year-old made his first-team debut in the Capital One Cup against Middlesbrough and scored within 10 minutes. He’s one of the Academy’s most highly-rated prospects and excels both in defence and offence; he can both stop and start attacks from his central midfield position. The big-name signings In the ECHO’s round-table following Gerrard’s announcement, Reds correspondent James Pearce emphasised how important it was for Liverpool to buy a big-name, top-quality midfielder this summer. With the Reds receiving no transfer fee for Gerrard, it makes it that little bit harder in some cases - but if they’re to think big, these may suit. Paul Pogba Juventus star and French international who has dominated Serie A since moving to Turin. Strong, a powerful runner and very good with the ball at his feet, Pogba would be an ideal signing. Has been linked with a move back to the Premier League over the past six months but would cost an eye-watering fee. William Carvalho Big Portuguese midfielder who is thought of as the country’s next superstar. Still only 22, Carvalho has been an impressive figure in the Sporting Lisbon midfield. Fears of stagnating in the capital - combined with the club’s money issues - means a move to a better league seems likely sooner rather than later. Sami Khedira World Cup winner who has seen it all and done it all at Real Madrid. He has suffered with injury problems in recent times but is a scary proposition for opponents when fully firing. Strong in the air and mobile on the ground, the German comes with the added bonus of being available on a free this summer. The statisticians’ choice They say there are lies, damned lies and statistics - but plenty of recruitment in football now relies on underlying numbers and what the data says. There must be efforts to see players actually play, of course, but these are players who can play and whose numbers match up well with what Liverpool want. *Rankings consist of players who play in the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1. Gianelli Imbula Marseille man who has been integral to their rise back to the top of Ligue 1. Playing in a side that loves to attack, the 22-year-old sits deep and provides a one-man shield. He has won more duels than any other player in Europe. With 45 successful tackles he is in the continent’s top 20, while his ability to carry the ball is highlighted with 69 successful dribbles - a staggering effort from a central midfielder which puts him sixth overall. He also wins 60% of his aerial battles, and has made 857 successful passes this season - 21st overall, just one place behind Gerrard. Mateo Kovacic Versatile Inter midfielder who starred for Croatia during the World Cup. He can play either in a deep-lying role or off the front man, but consistently creates chances for his side. With 34 chances created - just six fewer than Gerrard - he is a player capable of finding the right pass. He also knows when to retain possession, with a pass accuracy of 86% with 810 successful this season. His ability to play anywhere in midfield, plus his young age (20) makes him one to watch. Roman Neustadter The Schalke man, who can play in central defence but is predominantly a central midfielder, is known for his defensive attributes. The 26-year-old, who walks at six foot two, is into his third season with a club who routinely make the Champions League knockout stages - so experience is not an issue either. When adding together interceptions, blocked shots and clearances the German has made, Neustadter is fourth in Europe’s top five leagues with 116 - welcome abilities when protecting a defence like Liverpool’s. His strength and physicality would be welcome in the Premier League, as would his accuracy of 85% which demonstrates how he can distribute the ball from that holding position.
nahhhhhh..... you don't go to play with painters and plumbers and take 20mil dollaors a year while they are on what 50k per year cos you REALLY want to win an MLS.... players go to top clubs in italy or whereever to compete to extend their careers. he's lost the hunger, just like theirry henry did, he wants an easy time... just like thierry henry did. if he comes back on loan i'll be he turns up at a juve or some place like bekcham did then claim the leaue title he never won by just playing for the prestige.. that french medal sits proudly on beckhams record despite him doing faff all for it. sorry but the opinion i have is you go to mls you are playing a very low standard indeed so you go their to get a pay day.
TBH he was already so rich that he probably didnt notice it. I believe Beckham approached the idea of playing in the USA, not LA Galaxy approaching him?
Yes I know, I was making a joke. She is rather overshadowed by Stevie, unlike Posh who was nearly as famous as Beckham
Gerrard has like 2 years in him at most in the US. Playing in the US or China or Japan, is all about money. If Gerrard wanted to go play MLS standard football he could have gone to Rushden and Diamonds but he won't get MLS money playing for them.
if it's not rags like that melt Posh (who would have disappeared into history with the rest of the spice girls, she knew what she was doing marrying Becks) it's ****ing perfume and all the other marketing packages for talentless nobody celebrities who are known by more than 6 people.
Can't imagine a Liverpool team without Gerrard , super player who hung in with you guys as long as humanly possible to capture a Premier league title .No mattet what age , Liverpool will worse off without him . Grab some of that yankee money Stevey , you deserve it ..
