Saints can hardly criticise B'mouth for having money...we were spending a lot in League 1 and the Championship.
I still like AFC Bournemouth a lot. I like the way they play their football and their small club beating the biggest in the Championship story. Their fans have simply got to realise that most don't have a problem with them. I think if you ask the average Saints fan of AFCB they'll either be indifferent or pleased for the club. Very few will express genuine dislike, I suspect (cue hundreds of dissenters below).
To be honest I have never had any thoughts about Bournemouth one way or the other until Eddie Howe gave his post match conference and threw his toys out of the pram when we had the temerity to earn a point against them! We got shed loads of abuse from their fans as well which I found rather strange but I suppose when you start getting a bit of success the arrogance soon follows!
I was going to say something similar. I've been trying to get this bunch on here to stop being so bloody modest about Saints for the past three and a half seasons.
I said that above. This is why we were so surprised to find that they didn't like us. Hard to believe as we are so loveable
Can you remember examples? Who have we loaned them over the years just so I've got it in my back pocket when I next talk to a Cherries fan.
Also didn't we pay an instalment early for a player when they were in financial trouble....though we probably cut the price (just like Arsenal did for us with Walcott). And I can remember a bucket collection.
Southampton have scored the opening goal of the game in the 22nd or 23rd minute in each of the last three FA Cup ties played at St Mary's. We're going to score halfway through the first half then.
Me too!! I love Cherries and ice-cream. Always liked Bournemouth and even took to seeing some of their games back in the 70s and 80s!! If I remember Phil Boyer and Ted McDougall were there before being enticed by Laurie to come and join the Saints!! Hope they make it to the Premiership. Will be interesting to see what they do about their ground. They will need to raise the capacity to around 16,000. When you look at the population of Bournemouth and Poole that is a fair-sized catchment area. Throw in the rest of Dorset, they should be capable of commanding gates around 20,000 !!!
Particularly as we're a large part of the reason they have money to spend...Lallana's sell-on clause reaped enough to finance many of their acquisitions.
I too have always liked Bournemouth and always thought of them as friends. Hope it stays that way. Here's Florin Gardos about the Ipswich game and always winning when he plays Arsenal. Must remember that next time
