Tranmere V Swansea at Prenton Park : Match Preview please log in to view this image Tranmere, last start winners, 2-1 over Northampton are sweating on the fitness of striker Kayode Odejayi ahead of Swansea's visit in the third round of the FA Cup. The striker, who scored for Barnsley to knock Chelsea out of this competition in 2008, came off at half-time against Northampton after pulling a groin muscle. Defennder Liam Ridehalgh returns from the one-game suspension he picked up following his dismissal against Burton on Boxing Day. Loanees Josh Thompson and Shamir Fenelon have permission to play, but Calaum Jahraldo-Martin has been sent back to Hull, while Danny Woodards (foot) and Matt Hill (Achilles) are still injured. Swansea manager Garry Monk will make several changes following a demanding festive fixture schedule which has already seen them visit Hull, Liverpool and QPR in the last fortnight. Fringe players Gerhard Tremmel, Jazz Richards, Kyle Bartley, Tom Carroll and Marvin Emnes could all start with top goalscorer Wilfried Bony and midfielder Ki Sung-yueng now away on international duty, Jonjo Shelvey suspended and Jefferson Montero sidelined with a hamstring injury. Swansea will have Wayne Routledge available after having the winger's straight red card in the 1-1 draw at QPR on New Year's Day rescinded. (courtesy football.co.uk) WHAT THEY SAID Tranmere boss Micky Adams: "We'll need two balls, one for them and one for us. "If they have an off day, we have a bit of luck and our goalkeeper has a good day then we could beat them." Swans boss Garry Monk: "We'll have to make changes, but they wont be wholesale. I'll still put out a side that I feel can win the game. "It will be a tough game, it is a tight pitch at Tranmere and it will be difficult to play football. "They will be looking at home advantage, but I'll be taking it very seriously." Bonzer thread Must. Re: your teams. I reckon Taylor should be rested today and the boy Kingsley should be given a shot. I'd also play Barrow or Gorre instead of Siggy and play Routledge in the Siggy role...Routledge was given a contract extension last summer despite being a 29yr old winger. I think his days on the wing are coming to an end and this would be a good game to experiment with him in the no.10 slot I reckon he has all the attributes and would create lots of chances from here.
There's something special about the Third Round of the F.A. Cup. Minnows v Giants. David v Goliath, for the religious among us. Almost every year a big scalp falls at this hurdle, especially, but not exclusively, with the smaller team playing at home. Clearly,Tranmere v Swansea falls into that category. Let's hope complacency doesn't surface today, and that The Swans' make the draw for the next round.
totally made the team up Terror, I had Barrow in originally, who knows what the Monkster will come up with. is Tiendelli injured??
I think Tiendelli is injured musty ...his feelings are hurt..lol. He was injured but surely he must be healthy by now .I think Tiendelli has a bad case of Jazzitis , not going to get a chance which in my view is a shame.
I don't know what the situation is with Tiendalli Musty but I have assumed that he must be injured as he has not had a look in despite a hectic schedule. If Amat is fit enough I'd play him instead of Fernandez...we should put a couple of the young midfielders we have accumulated (Sheehan, King, Grimes, Fulton, Lucas, Gallifuoco or Demetriou) on the bench and bring them on in the 2nd half if we have built up a 2 goal lead imo. Something like.... --------------------------- Tremmel ----------------------------- ------------- Fernandez/Amat --- Bartley ------------------ Jazz -------------------------------------------------- Kingsley ------------------ Carroll --------- Leon ----------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- Barrow/Gorre ------- Routledge ------------------ Emnes ---------------------------- Gomis ------------------------------ Subs; Cornell, Taylor, Ash, Fulton, Sheehan, Dyer and Donnelly.
Grimes is cup tied and it seems none of the younger signings have impressed enough to even make the bench
You raise a interesting point about Routs. Other than winger where would his best position be? There are many wingers that drop into a wing back role. Are his defensive abilities good enough or could he develop them to be a good wing back - still has the speed and probably has the engine to get up and back,
Does anybody know the quality of their pitch. If it's a cabbage patch I expect them to be in our faces all game and us struggle unable to play our game and move the ball.
