    any runners out there?

as you may have read on a thread I posted a while ago am trying to get fit

have lost a stone in about 3 weeks eating 4 times a day meat and broccolli/cauliflower so low carbs and very moderate excercise (as I am recovering from quite long term injury)

My stamina is shot, went on a bike ride and over did it, but I never had a bike as a kid etc so not my thing

Want to do some running, but would probably collapse

    any tips?

What about an excercise bike at home, build up your time on it then try the real cycling again. Or swimming. That's also a good thing to kick off fitness.

    hows it going lady T?

Never get round to it at home, too many inyteruptions. Had joined esporta and the feckers have closed down (taking it feckin personal too they were around for ages, till I joined)

I dont mind the running, just wanted to avoid injuries and doing myself any damage really.

Have a nice green area round th eback of my house where I can go

How about chasing 15 year old girls round the local park? Then they can chase you, Benny Hill style!

I just thought with you saying about the stamina, lesser impact excercise might be the better way to start the building up, hence the static cycling or swimming.

Things are just peachy here ta x

Don't worry how bad you do first time out, even if you go no more than a few hundred yards and stop 3 times during it, you'll find you can do a little bit btter the next time, and a bit better the time after that, you'll soon find you're doing a run that you couldn't have thought possible that first time out.

I started jogging again in early June, after doing nothing since last autumn, first time out I did 2k but walked most of it and stopped at least 3 times, took over 40 minutes, and I was knackered.

Been going 2 or 3 times a week, and last week I did 7k, walked about 50 yards of it which was a steep uphill bank, and did the rest non stop in that same 40 minutes.

Spin classes I think he means. Don't go to them unless you're fit. ****ing kills.

Just set yourself a series of bit sized targets. I've never run before and started doing 5 mins in the gym.. Then six and so on. Once I got to 20 I ventured out onto the road. Six months on and I'm doing 16.5km and looking forward to the Great North Run in September. It really is such a buzz!
