We'd have to make Bertrand a permanent signing before taking another loan from Chelsea. I'd personally quite like Salah on loan from them, but right now it's a complete no-go. You can't have two players on loan from the same PL club when you yourself are also a PL club.

Aren't really enough (or any, really) credible accounts to suggest that he's strongly considering a move here. Part of the problem is that the irrational confidence that makes sportspeople good at the sports thing also tends to cloud their judgment when it comes to this sort of decision...why go to Southampton when you're surely going to crack Bayern Munich's starting lineup within eighteen months, after all.

Why come here when we apparently destroy people's lives by not letting them move on at their own convenience.<whistle> If he was younger he might consider coming here, but at sixteen he could go to United, Chelsea whoever and be playing by the time he is 17/18.

It seems to be being reported that the move to Chelsea is a done deal. This would be sad because he is basically signing on to be their 3rd choice striker next season (and not even given a chance this season).

It is crazy that money is such a pull that players don't seem to pay attention to what has happened to the likes of Bertrand. Macechran (sp), bamford, de bruyne, van ginkel and lukaku in their Chelsea "careers".

(that list of names was getting longer and longer as I was writing it and there are more that I didn't include).

Regarding kramaric I have only seen rumours linking him with inter, Leicester and Chelsea (reserves) . A strange selection of clubs. Surprised there aren't more in the mix. Unless the looming spectre of Chelsea means no one else sees the pointing in trying to sign him..

If the club can get them both to do it on the same day (and perhaps just before a match) that would be such a massive boost to the morale of the team and the fans.

Although I did see one article that was contrary to the other Toby stories saying we would have to wait for the summer to complete the signing. If true I think that makes it less likely.

Toby has said before it is up to the clubs. He probably wouldn't go to the board and say he wanted to stay if unasked and neither would he want to upset his home team. It does sound reasonable that Saints would ask him if he wanted to stay before approaching Atletico and that he might say yes. He seems to enjoy it here, so why not (unless his agent says that he should hold on....hush my mouth). It could make sense for Saints to offer the cash now when Atletico could use it rather than wait till the summer when they might hold out for more. Toby could then go on his hollyers and report back for preseason with no weeks of uncertainty.

Cashflow could be an interesting point. Part of the deal is that Atletico can apparently pay 1.5m to remove the option to buy (if true - it sounds weird). But who is to say a club in their financial position has that money lying around. Sure they may be able sell him for 15m (not guaranteed) elsewhere but there will presumably be a time delay. And unless they have already sold someone in the summer they might not have the cash sitting their. Cash they do have may have to be held to meet bank requirements etc

What I am trying to get at is that the fear Atletico may cancel the option and put him to auction seems to be a big fear but is probably not as simple as we may think

In addition he may wish to repay the faith we had in him. I assume other teams could have got him and chose note to:
Arsenal - went for Chambers for more money
Liverpool - went for Lovren for more than he would have cost
Man United - chose not to sign a defender at all when they really needed one
Spurs - Eric Dier and Fazio

Looking at that I am amazed we managed to get him to us in the first place

Wow. I wonder where this rumour has come from. Why are we being added to the same list of interested parties as Burnley and QPR? We are surely not shopping in the same market as them. If anything we are after the strikers those teams currently have (Austin or Ings) and he is who they have to replace them

Although QPR are definitely looking for extra strikers not replacements. Burnley have quite a few don't they : Vokes, Ings, Lukas (3 saints fans?) plus Barnes and Sordell
