Fowler was joint captain/vice captain in 2001. He was with Leeds in 2002

I remember Owen as England ice captain. He was terrible. So terrible.

I don't think opinion comes into it, he may well get the job but for example if a new manager comes in he could potentially lose the VC never mind be made captain.

weve had some **** captains through the years tbf. John Barnes, Jamie Redknapp, Matt Busby

 

Henderson. I said in August before he was made VC that he was future captain material. Think we all knew this was Gerrards last season with us and thd VC position was an important one. Henderson was England u21 Captain. He does lead with energy, drive and commitment - similar qualities to Gerrard when he was that age and I think he has learnt enormously from Gerrard during his time with us.
Lucas never recovered his form after his ACL injury and will probably leave at the end of the season. Sakho doesn't have the language skills yet. Lallana is possible but Rodgers doesn't seem to know where to play him if at all.

 

I think we need to sign a RCB and a DM and one of these should be the new captain.

 

I dont think a new signing should be captain personally. The captain should be the first to welcome any new signings.

The team needs leaders. There aren't any outstanding candidates in this current team.

The defence certainly needs a leader so we could kill two birds with one stone. Not saying this player will instantly be made captain but should definitely look to assume that role until Hendo matures.

Imagine playing for a captain who is younger than you and has achieved less than you - it's not inspiring at all. It's like how Lovren came into the team expecting to be the leader and to organise Skrtel - Skrtel took one look at him and doesnt listen to him at all. Compare that to Agger and Carra who both kept SKrtel in check.

 

Only one real pick in the squad tbh. All hail Captain Henderson!

Disagree - how would you feel playing for someone who is telling you what to do when you know you're 10x better than he is and have more experience?

When I play for a captain, I should have full faith in what he says to me and I will do anything he says.

If Suarez was still in this team, he would have been captain. But speaking hypothetically, if Hendo was made captain, do you think Suarez would give 2 sh*ts what Hendo says to him?

 

We dont have Suarez or a player even approaching Suarez any more and probably will never again.Hendo is the best its going to get unless we fluke a CL place through winning the Europa Cup.

 

I wonder too Never captain material. Never seemed a leader sort to me.
