If the intern who didn't watch the game but is given five minutes to come up with the marks out of ten for the Mirror says so I guess it must be true...
Will be interesting to see how their relationship develops. Lennon and Walker never quite worked for me but Lennon and Corluka were perfect. Walker seemed to slightly hamper Lennon as an attacking threat but with Lamela always wanting to come inside he and Walker might actually complement and enhance one another's attacking styles. Of course defensively it might be a bit risky with having a LW who wants to cut inside and a LB who wants to get to the byline but Walker's pace has always meant that whatever terrible position he ends up getting into it's generally forgiven. Besides, flankers totally abandoning their defensive jobs is why you play two deeper midfielders, right?
He's been very negative about HK. I just wondered whether after yesterday's performance he had anything nice to say about him, or whether he was stickinging by his guns.
Oh I see. I didn't post much on here, but I also felt he wasn't good enough for us. A willing worker and direct and forceful, but lacking in class. Gladly now say 100% wrong. Saw him live v Everton and he was a beast, completely changed my mind on him (the evidence had been mounting for a while to be fair) and yesterday he was exceptional, the like I have not seen from a Spurs centre forward in a while.
I think that King just felt that some people were getting a little carried away with their praise of him, which is fair enough. I thought he'd done well enough to earn his place in the first XI and I think he's really pushed on since then. His work rate has been immense and he's got a real eye for goal, but his pace, strength and skill have surprised me, to be honest. Some of the stuff that he's doing is really top notch. No idea who to compare him to anymore.
Yeah, i was a bit more optimistic about him that it sounds like you were, but i dont think anyone can have predicted how much he's come on this year. Fantastic to see. We needed something to get excited about atm, and he's it. People talk about his work rate, and positional sense and movement, and rightly so, but he's also got a super finish on him, and of the things i like best, is that he knows as soon as he's got the ball (or probably before) what he's going to do. It doesnt just give him a yard, but it means he takes every chance of being positive and has that quality of being able to create something when it's difficult for others to see what's on. Long may it continue
I said ever since he broke through into the first team picture years back in the Europa League that I thought he'd have a good career with us but never expected him to become pretty much a key player, especially so early in his career. I imagined him as a good bench option to a first choice striker yet right now, I think Kane's meteoric rise may just have helped us to save spending £20m or so on a new striker. It still may be early days but the lad looks like he's going to be an exceptional player.
At the beginning of the season I didn't rate Kane at all which is why I strongly disagreed with u. Since the season began he has proved me wrong time and time again and his two goals against one of the top sides in Europe was an outstanding achievement. Hats off to the lad and long may his form continue
The first time I saw him was in Baltimore against Liverpool. I noticed how lively he was. He had a half chance, and I thought it might have helped him to score it, but he just missed. Early last year I noticed that he was a good football player for a big striker, and seemed useful anywhere on the pitch. I thought he was a good player to have on the bench, a hard worker who could play a couple of different positions. He ratcheted up a couple of notches late last year when he showed he was a good partner for Ade, but I think by that point he was rising in a lot of people's estimation (though not everybody's!). It is important to remember that if a player looks like they belong on a PL pitch at 19 or 20, they're not bad bets to be outstanding in it a couple of years later.
There's got to be a movie in this. It's got it all : - being in baltimore - noticing he looked lively - thinking "this might help him if he scores this" - him just missing I remember watching tom huddlestone once and, as he was about to take a shot, i said to my buddy, "wow, what a haircut. You know, if this shot he's about to take goes in, we'll get a goal". It missed by miles though.
