So far, few goals to be mentioned... However, it's been decent. Brazil and Uruguay tie (I would prefer for them to go out early so we get Lucas and Suarez back early, but I can't help rooting for them when they play,) but the best part was the last game. It does an American's heart good to see Mexico lose, and on Independence day no less! Does everyone hate the Mexican team, or is it just Yanks?
Those poor mexicans, you keep throwing them out of your country! How many times do they have to try and get in before border patrol give them a "thanks for trying and keeping us in a job," free pass into the country?
I agree that I want them out and back in pre-season training fit and well. I just get nervous that they might get a long term injury.
When they learn the language, don't boo our national anthem (did that at our home Gold Cup finals,) don't boo our injured players (did that too...) I wouldn't mind. Same fans who chanted Osama during our national anthem after 9/11... Not too keen at them being in my country, sorry.
Can;t stand Mexico and love when we beat them ( although this is the best team they had for awhile), but on a side note, I thought Chile looked pretty good and played some really top stuff at times. Dark horse for the Copa win for me.
I think the episode was aimed at the Mexican's a little bit..... or a lot, depending on how you look at it..... http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/104259/they-took-our-jobs
I figured and hoped so, but also posted it for anyone else who was wondering. Mexico does have a strong squad, but with the right coach, USA does too. Anyway, chile did look really good, dominated play, kept possession, and all around bullied Mexico on and off the ball. Wonder why Mexico didn't have Hernandez (will not call him little pea.)
United didn't want him to play, on top of they just won the Gold Cup so have the Confederations cup secure. Also, this team they put out is very young and inexperienced bar Dos Santos ( am thinking he is playing to increase shop window value!!). Also, I know that was not their head coach on the sideline and would like to think he didn;t get fired after beating the US in the Gold Cup Final 4-2. So this team, manager, etc are all new it seems for the Copa. On a side note, I don't know why you would do that though as in 07 we win the Gold Cup and sent such a S****y team down to the Copa and we got straight embarressed. Why even go play? Just makes it look as though we can't compete with the top teams. Players that stood out in the Chile game for me were obviously Sanchez as all the talk, speculation, etc but he is rapid and has good skills. Matias Fernandez looked good ( Sporting I believe?) and Arturo Vidal will be a big buy soon once Leverkusen feel they need to cash in. Oh and one other thing for Mexico, rule of thumb, never..... ever, ever, ever, ever EVER, make a substitution on a corner! Right where that boy was sprinting to get in place, the goal came from!(2nd)
Uruguay were good to watch yesterday, Forlan played really well. Don't understand why Cavani was on the wing though.
I thought the World Cup had them in that set-up though ( Uruguay ). or was it Forland behind Cavani but who was out wide? Or was Suarez and Forland behind Cavani with the two Defensive mids just staying home and smashing play up? I expected more from Paraguay, too.
Forlan played attacking midfield with Suarez and Cavani upfront. Can't see why they just don't play Forlan with Suarez upfront with a true attacking midfielder as that Cavani looks useless
If you have really watched any Central American football (club abd country) then you will understand that last night's match was par for the course - a liitle skill, lots of rummimg, little midfield action and robust (often crude) defending.
Thanks! Can't take credit for it, though, found it on some other forum. I have never done photo editing, so... Had to take it from someone... Anyways, back to the topic at hand... I find it hard to watch most middle and south American games, as there is too much diving/embellishing. If you get fouled, fine, get up and play. If you don't, keep playing. That's the ONLY thing that bothers me about Suarez (don't hate me for saying that... I know most players do it anyway.) Football is turning from the beautiful game to the best game, and I wish it wouldn't. It already was the best, I just wish it was both.
