Wanted to do a Match Thread without all the boring who played for Chelsea and Spurs in 1799 & 1824 so here we go!

Well here we are again, this fixture was for long periods known as 'The Turkey Shoot at Three Point Lane' but the Spuds have spent Gazillions of pounds trying to break into the top four and whereas some of the players they have bought in have improved them.

This is by no means a forgone conclusion and they are bound to fight us all the way in what could be seen as a league cup final rehearsal should they overcome the mighty Sheffield United and us Liverpool. So far Mauricio Pinocchio has done a reasonable job in turning them into Southampton and probably needs to sign just one or two more of their players for the transition to take place.

When a team with big players fails to achieve any kind of notable success, those players start to attract the attentions of bigger clubs. The likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United have been drawn to Spurs in recent years like sharks circling their prey, as Michael Carrick, Dimitar Berbatov, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale have all moved onto bigger things after shining in a comparatively poor Spurs side.

The same will happen with the likes of Hugo Lloris and Christian Eriksen if Spurs don’t improve soon. Indeed, Jan Vertonghen is already rumoured to be leaving in January and that’s the kind of thing Spurs must avoid. They need to keep their best players and build around them if they want to achieve success.

There has already been interest in Mauricio Pinocchio from Brasil after they had recieved threats from North Korea that the 'Jesus of Rio' is to be stolen.

a Brazil spokesperson said "seeing Mauricio perform and Daniel Levy's penchant for selling just about anything of worth warrants us to put in a bid."

Daniel Levy (below) said I am somewhat surprised and of course refuse to sell at all costs until the right figures are mentioned.

Anyway I digress, back to the football.
Players in form for this match are Michael Kane & Hans Christen Erikson for Spurs and Costa & Hazard for Chelsea in what promises to be the match of the day this should be a ding dong affair with goals in, hopefully all in the Spurs net. Looking forward to this and my prediction is that Chelsea will win by the odd goal in three.

<laugh> ****ing brilliant thread, and so much more interesting than that ****ing rehashed tripe from the old spud.

Now, don't get me wrong, I think Chelsea are a bunch of slags and Maureen is a ****ing hissy fit diva with a tin foil hat. But this is nothing compared to the disdain I have for those ****s from N17. As much as I'd like to see both teams lose and a mass 22 man brawl with several red cards and lengthy bans, I hope Chelsea ****ing tear those deluded ****s a new one.

I want the spuds to finish as low as possible in the league so that the big teams come in at the end of the season and pick off their best players (as they do each season). I can see Erikson, Lamela and Lloris making the step up to a big club next season. We all know that the Bald shyster midget would sell his own mother for a few Shekels, I bet he's trying to set up some deals for these players as we speak.

  3. Thanks for an informed and balanced match-day summary, Ozzie.

As this is probably going to be a dry run of this season's League Cup, the result will be fascinating.

There is no doubt that Chelsea is the in-form side, and that we are going to have our work cut out to get anything from the match. With that in mind, I'd be happy if we can escape without a spanking, and show a little more guile in our defence and movement through midfield.

Welcome Hiag to the true one and only Matchday thread and not that boring old bastards same old pish.
I think you're hiding the chance you have there old boy, you're playing better now than you have for some time and must hold a favourites chance at home.

It will be tight and it will be thrilling and a hard one to call. There's usually goals galore in these derby games and hoping they will all be up your end :) but please come and join in the fun on match day as I can't make this game due to travel difficulties my end.

  5. I'll gladly join you and fellow fans on this thread, during the match-day endeavours.

Yeah, we are playing better, and I like the fitness levels - they saved our bacon against United, who were hanging on, at the end of that match. However, you guys are in a different class at the moment. Okay, so you slipped up against Saints, but I think that was nothing more than a Christmas hang-over. I fear that we will suffer the worst of the backlash.

If you offered me a draw right now, I'd bite your hand off, mate.

I have finally figured how to use the new forum on an iPad, maybe it just took some minor changes to sort it out, but pleased to say all seems OK today.
HIAG, on holidays with the Spud son in law and grandkids, will be up at 6.30 am tomorrow to watch the game before heading to the beach.Expect a decent game, you Spuds have looked a whole lot better recently, maybe that Juggernaut is starting to roll at last?
Looking for another professional approach from Chelsea and am putting my neck on the block predicting a win to the Blues 2-1

  7. 2-1 is probably a good shout, CP. Provided you didn't play us off the park, I probably wouldn't be too disappointed with that score line.

We played well against United, but - and I have to be brutally honest, here - your boys are in a different league to both United and us, at the moment. We still have too many players who go missing at crucial times in games, and you have too strong a squad not to take advantage of the definite chances you will get. At my most pessimistic, I'll say that you will win by two clear goals, either 2-0 or 3-1.

Of course, I will hope for the draw.

Chances will be had, can't see Costa and co being as wasteful as United were, (Special mention to Falcao and his Sand Wedge feet) :D

1 3 Chelsea, unless you have a mare.

Tottenham played well at SW6 I thought, but they are better suited to playing away from home.

I still expect us to win this one comfortably though, sooner or later their luck will run out. Going back as far as Villa in November they've had a lot IMO. Leicester, Hull, Palace, Swansea & United each created enough chances against them to win twice over, sooner or later you feel somebody is going to put those chances away and I feel that we will.

Need to start getting our away form back on track and there isn't a better time or place to do it.

Agree with District on this, I've watched a fair bit of the the Spuds this season and they have had a huge slice of luck in a lot of games. Mainly that has come down to the opposition not taking their chances (and I include Arsenal in that) and basically the spuds have been let off the hook time and again.

I can't see Chelsea being as charitable with them and I think the game will suit you because the spuds being at home will be expected to come out and attack, Maureen loves a park the bus type of game and I think you'll simply pick them off on the counter. 0-3 Chavs for me.

The only worry is complacency. This is the first season in about 3/4 where the media haven't predicted we'll get rolled over there and usually we perform better when the odds are supposedly against us, this time round we have to make sure we do a professional job. Getting chances is an inevitability against this current Spurs side, taking them is another matter.

I just feel a 6/10 performance or above will win us the game under normal circumstances i.e 11 vs 11.

  16. I'm nipping into the bookies later and putting £50 on a Chav win, and £20 on 0-2.

I could do with the money, after an expensive Christmas.

Keep your fingers crossed for me, eh, lads!

True a bit of ruthlessness is needed, UNited could have been 3 or 4 up in the first half at WHL but for the golf club feet of vP and Falcao.

Well there's a lovely goal made by the majesty of Hazard, let's see how the Spuds respond?

  19. One more goal from Chavs and I'm in for a windfall!

I'd rather Spurs won, but - **** it! - we were never going to, so I might as well make some cash out of our misery.
