... is unequivocally affected by the perpetual pantomine which is being played out at ER. Like it or not, 'that lot over there' and Man City have significantly contributed to Mcr' s profile, when in reality the city of Leeds -on paper- should have at least the same or even more going for it in terms of it's geographical location, business/commerce, arts/culture scene etc. Whilst I'm falling out generally with football due to it being a game of monopoly rather than a sport, I do secretly wish for some local wealthy businessmen to step in. The joke (LUFC) should be over now - 'enough's enough'! Names that spring to mind (again) are Peter Wilkinson (a la Freeserve fame) Paul Sykes, and Steve Parkin, who between them are understood to be very, very wealthy. Working together (not against each other) they could leave a lasting legacy. And in the shorter /medium term a successful team and city would, collectively, help to improve our profile in the run up to our application as 'European City of Culture' Ah well, at least I can dream ..Guess the nightmare is set to continue, so I'm off to buy my Euro lottery ticket now!
Compared to the rabid ex tory and ukip pay master Paul Sykes I would prefer the self promoting Verity... But I would prefer Bates to Verity.... I am not advocating a return to Bates but either of these two are no better and in all probability worse. Red Bull was the answer but I suspect the italian clown has passed them off.
Depends on the question. They would want a profile in the big league. With all due respect the Austrian leagues are not ever going to get a profile.
Good shout Elland re " What about Glory's mate Gary Verity? Leeds born and bred, supporter, strong financial background (ex banker) etc . I'm not sure about his personal wealth but he'd be a sensible choice to have on the board alongside, say, our ex commercial director, Adam Pearson. Both on a non - exec basis where they can be more objective/advisory capacity
Maybe it's time to stop looking for a rich Savior out there and look inwards and the fans should buy the club. We'd be able to appoint the board members we want, the chairman we want and the manager we want. A get rid when we want. We wouldn't be at the mercy of... A person who's using the club to line his pocket Bankers who are in over their heads and loosing a million a month An a crook who wants to play fantasy football and fires the manager after 6 game or what ever the next fool is that comes in
