Huw's stated that the deal to bring Jonathan Soriano looks dead in the water... couldn't agree a deal on our terms, so back to the drawing board. In one way, I'm glad we don't feel under pressure to pay over the odds for someone, although I'm sure deals are weighted against us these days because agents/players know we money to spend. Perhaps we haven't hear the last of this, but doesn't look good at the moment. I'm gutted, as I think the guy looks class... Still, keep the faith guys!
Sorry Jack... my fault. It's at the bottom of the next article about the defender rumour. Hope it's just Huw playing hardball!
It's also at the end of the article on BBC website... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/14017215.stm.
I'll wait and see myself. Sounds like either Barca or the player asking for too much right now, but it's still only just July, thing might chance come August.
I agree hackerjack... hope it's just Huw playing it cool, and perhaps we'll wait and see how keen Soriano is to play in the premier division. Just hope Wigan don't beat us to the signing as I heard Roberto was also sniffing around! I'm sure there are other deals out there that we not aware of at the moment and there's lots happening behind the scene. It's going to be a busy month with lots of rumours flying around! I don't believe any of them too much until they sign on the dotted line.
The positive aspect to this piece of news is that Huw Jenkins has still got his head screwed on the right way. His philosophy is the long-term sustainability of the Swans on a sound financial basis, so (although I'm disappointed Soriano hasn't signed) I still see it as good news overall. Huw is sending out a clear message to greedy players and parasitic agents, "We are premier league but we won't be bumped into paying silly money, so stop having a laugh". There are lots of fish out there in the ocean, I'm sure Huw and Brendan will bring in some excellent new players at a price that makes sense.
I hope it happens but not at the expense of us over spending. Glad HJ is still staying true to our structure.
Well we are in the driving seat, and I think we do need to keep our budget tight, I'm sure we will get the right players in at a price that is right for the club, still plenty of time..................... please log in to view this image

is'nt that how all deals happen? if a fee and wages for the player where sorted and it's only the agents fee's letting us down, i want to know how much was the agent asking for, and are agents supposed to work for free? it's alright most on here moaning about agents, but 99.99% of player's have agents, who do the running around/bargaining for them, if we won't pay agents, they won't bother offering player's to us.
Agents are blood sucking scum bags, they take money out of the game and their fees should not be a consideration when contracts are being done, these fees are paid by the players I can see now, but that's crap basically clubs are still paying them ! These people are employed by players, they should be paid fully by players, they should not be paid a percentage of a transfer, they basically do the same job if the transfer is £1m or £10m to be paid upwards of 20% is obscene ! These people are the ones driving clubs to financial problems, you may say it's the clubs duty to run the business properly, but when there are agents out there demanding huge fees and clubs desperate to find players there is no hope of filling places without paying them. It's time that agents are fully regulated and the greed be capped along with players agents.
Yes all deals have agents fees and we do pay them, we probably budget for them when agreeing a fee, after all what do we care how much of the money goes to his agent and how much to Barca as long as the fee is the same. However most likely the agent has either moved the goalposts or asked for some stupid clause (like a % of future fees/wages regardless of whether or not they represent the players at the time).
This would be my biggest disapointment of the transfer season so far as i think he's a player that could have been a surprise package for us in the PL.
