That was pretty much as accurate as anything you'll see elsewhere in the press.

I think they mentioned it in the article. Monk left JonJo on to prove himself...one last chance to rescue his career with the Swans perhaps?

I don't think we should be blaming Monk for allowing Shelvey that....all being said, if he comes straight back into the team after his ban, questions of Monk can be asked then.

Yeah, to be fair, that's a good assessment, at least regarding starting Shelvey. However, I hardly feel that leaving him on for 90 minutes when, as the article points out, there was only one player that should have been coming off at 60 minutes, was a good idea - not for Monk, Shelvey, or the team. Shelvey was having a stinker and leaving him on actually just created further embarrassment for Shelvey, and consequently our whole team, as he then scored himself an own goal.

However, you are right that we need to see what happens after his ban. If Monk reinstates Shelvey into the side then he needs his head checked. He's already quoted as saying, "Jonjo performed quite well, he had quite a lot of energy and was one of our players mostly on the ball." Now, I'm hoping that quote was almost like a public apology for humiliating him in the press the day before, a compliment for the sake of a compliment, because "quite well" he wasn't, and "had quite a lot of energy" he didn't.

What an uncalled for insult - Taey loved (s) this club and always work his socks off.
I still dream of a team of Tates.

Shelvey has been lost since Siggy walked through the door for his 2nd stint with us.A lot like Graham was lost when Siggy came through the door first time around . Both had to play away from their strengths as Siggy flourished imo.

Hahaha your opinion maybe but I was never a big fan of tateys a clumsy player that got loads of cards and of course he loved the club cos like all the others that were not good enough to move on higher up the food chain give lip service to the fans.
My rose tinted specs don't work where he is concerned sorry .

He was running around like a terrier making up for Shelvey's lack of energy and poor positioning. He did some lovely things when on the ball; but he can't play for two people not at his age.

he probably did Yankee, I will have to watch a replay. the TV is lucky to still have a screen, I was so irate with the crap that was served up. Loved Shelveys little chuckle with the Henderson (I think) moments before his own goal, NOT.

Bony always played best last year when he played the whole game, so why sub him when he had no service? Why not put Bafe on instead of Dyer or Routledge who also had stinkers?
    Subs are too predictable

    Routledge
Gylfi Bony looks to be the starting 11 and more than good enough to win imo
