Daniel Agger admits he is missing Liverpool FC more than he thought he would after leaving the club last summer.
The 30-year-old centre-half rejoined Brondby in August after spending eight years at Anfield where he amassed 232 appearances.
Agger was back in the city this week to watch the Reds game at home to Swansea City and the Dane spoke to LFC TV before the match.
“I miss it more than I expected,” Agger said.

“Just being back in Liverpool, in the city, has been good for me.
“I really miss it and after almost nine years of being here, it is good to be back.”
He added: “I’ve watched almost every game this season.
“It has been up and downs and the league position is not what we would’ve hoped for but the last few weeks have been a bit more positive.”
Agger featured 20 times in the league last season as Liverpool pushed Manchester City all the way in the title race.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have failed to reach those heights this term and Agger says the side “overachieved” last season.
“Losing Luis Suarez, losing your best player, is always going to be difficult for a team.
“And in my opinion, we maybe overachieved a bit last season. Everybody played a bit better than we might.
“Everything came up to a higher level and after the second place of last season, expectations go up and it’s always difficult.”

  3. He was a good player, who probably left when 'Pool was going through its crisis. Now that he sees things have calmed down, he wants back in.

Do you really need someone with that kind of mentality? Surely, you want players who are prepared to fight for the club, even if things aren't going right?

Agger was incredibly loyal and loves the club, he left on the back of a successful season and rode out our actual crisis that we went through

Agger could of gone to any big team after us but chose to go back home, that's more loyal than most players.

    Similar to Bellamy with Cardiff.

Coming 2nd in the league? What crisis? I'm not sure you had that one right ;)..

The guy has YNWA tattooed accross his fingers and is in no way worse than anyone in our CB roster this year. Surprised we let him go, another Brendan rift?... His injury record was appalling though.

Loved Agger and when he first joined he had the potential to be a brilliant defender but he had his weaknesses. Even taken out his injury record, the guy was shocking at marking. Any slight movement from a forward in open play would get away from him and he more often than not dived in instead of saying on his feet.

Very loyal and god with the ball at his feet but he never seemed to progress as a defender and improve on his clear weaknesses.

Yeah Robbie takes exception to that comparison

Considering the way that you are trying to play from the back, he's the centre half I would have kept?

Sakho is just as god with the ball at his feet and technically a better defender as well. Far superior in the air and although sometimes dives in like Agger, he's a better marker as well and has age on his side.

I like Agger but I think we should leave that option alone.

  14. Although that was great with the ball at his feet, defensively Agger was very poor. Always getting caught out of position and having to make last ditch recovery tackles to make amends for his error.

Also, he had a reputation for scoring goals but didn't really get that many (nine in 175 games for us), he just scored a few memorable ones.

Disagree - Agger was a brilliant defender. He was a leader who kept Skrtel in check, and also guided the full back.

His own performance did drop off in the past season or so but he ensured the whole unit was organised, and those around him played better.

Imagine selling Agger and buying Lovren instead. Ridiculous decision.

He was a bit more of an organiser but the guy couldn't mark to save his life. Was so easily beaten by any kind of movement in the box.
