Reading into Poyets comments if the Spurs or another Landaan club came in with an offer do you think he would be off. I hope not but think he would.

Pardew will take the Palace job,as per Ashley's orders, and then Ashley will take full control of Rangers,sell-up at NUFC,and then appoint Pardew as the Manager at Rangers....simples!!

Selling is only possible if there's a buyer and that's not as easy as it may seem.
According to the ITK's on the Newcastle board they think 'Qatari, Chinese or Indian investors' may be in for the club.

Sadly for the Mags they'll find it's easier to convince themselves that NUFC are a massive global brand than any outsider.
Only clubs capable of winning the League title attract significant attention, the odd foray into the early rounds of Europe or winning a cup just doesn't mean a lot. The likes of Hull & Wigan are testament to that.

A slight anomaly occurs if a club is based in London. If Spurs were stuck in the NW, like Everton, winning a cup or qualifying for Europe, they wouldn't have anywhere near the profile they enjoy. Despite their corner of London being a crime ridden ****hole they can attract better players simply because they're based in the capital with the 'glamour' that implies.

It isn't financially possible for Newcastle to move to a modern new stadium and new owners/investment would lead to higher ticket/merchandising prices. No more supporters could be crammed in so the existing ones would have to be milked.

Ashley knows that providing the huge extra finance to move into the top 4 and Champions League just isn't worth the risk.

The media says Pulis has turned them down over fears of Ashley being too involved in team selection etc.

You're right that Bruce will be looking to leave his 'long contract/high priced/underachieving squad behind ..........
..........where have we seen that before <doh>

I think Carver may be installed to spend nothing in the transfer window and keep them up until the summer.
He may also see Sissoko leave. Ashley will know it's best not to bring in a new manager and 'taint' him by seeing him 'allow' one of their best players leave. If Carver does a half decent job he might even stay as the cheap option.

You could be onto something there Smug. This is like watching the friend of an ugly one approaching people to go out with their mate - not even being polite in their rejection, just a straight get lost. Usually get a 'I'm flattered by the interest but I'm concentrating on my job here' but the favourites are distancing themselves very quickly - Bruce and 'wally with the brolly' have ruled themselves out, Pulis and Sherwood 'never under consideration' (SSN) though that could change depending who gets the WBA job.
Could we see a reformation of Waddle and Hoddle? Entertaining stuff - glad it's not us.

So what would you like to see as an alternative?

Personally, I'm quite liking it but think we are still too slow and ponderous in the build up. When we quicken things up I think we are playing some decent stuff but don't get enough bodies in the box for crosses ( which are too few ) or midfielders getting past the CF to get on the end of things or dragging defences around to create openings for the CF to exploit. However, I think we are getting there.

Buy low, sell high. Always the modus operandi of the successful business man and Ashley is exactly that. He`s even made a profit on Pardew.

Promote in house at no cost. No purchases in January when prices are high. That`s the time to sell. PL position looks safe so that income is guaranteed.

    He`s got it well sussed.

And he's in a totally unique position mate.
Every other owner/chairman has to pretend they care about the feelings & wishes of the supporters.

Ashley ****ing hates the Mags and he couldn't make it more obvious <laugh>

He seems to be thoroughly enjoying tormenting them. Kinnear was the best one yet.

The thing is, he doesn`t need to do anything for months. Just sit back and watch the discomfort.

Pops man, I just took a look at the Newcastle board to see who they want as a manager <laugh>

Of the 8 'possibles' more than twice as many people want anyone else!

The two favourites are both ex-Sunderland ......... you couldn't make it up, only the Mags.

Who will the next Newcastle United Manager be?

Whoever put that poll up really doesn't know his own club. It's Cashley deep pockets short arms. Carver or Beardsley would always be the likely options. Probably why 43% of the vote has gone for 'other' <laugh><doh>

Just read some of the comments and tbf a lot of them seem resigned to getting a stop-gap (Beardsley, Carver?) on the grounds that Ashley won`t spend and there`s nothing much out there anyway. Both valid points imo.

I would expect a temp until March while Ashley sells a couple of top players for top price in January. Then take it from there.

The names on that list shows they`ve got Ashley weighed up though. They know exactly what he`s about.

If talks with Palace break down, how will the Toon Army welcome back their manager I wonder?

Palace have an away match, in Birmingham, in less than 24 hours.

The chairman had been looking to sack Warnock, for quite a while, and has only lined up one person as the new manager.
Unless there's a press announcement soon it will look a little strange.

It looks to me as if talks, with Pardew, are proving difficult and may fail.
The way people are rushing to rule themselves out as the next Newcastle makes me really wonder.
Bruce couldn't wait to save face with the Hull supporters by saying how much he loves the club.
Most people would say it's the one job he's always wanted and now he's 'not interested' ............ I think it's 'cos he's been tipped off that the job may not be vacant after all.

I'm off to put a few quid on someone else as the new Palace manager, probably Millen.

    This just appeared.

The largest shareholder of fallen Scottish giants Rangers, investment group Laxey Partners, confirmed on Wednesday that it has relinquished its 16 percent stake in the club to a consortium.

The Isle of Man-based group said it had sold its stake to a consortium led by Scottish businessmen Douglas Park, George Letham and George Taylor in order to counter the influence of rival shareholder Mike Ashley.

British media reports said that the consortium, known as the 'Three Bears', had paid almost £2.7 million ($4.2 million, 3.5 million euros) to secure the shares.

"I sold because a fans-based group were hopefully going to be the best placed to take on Ashley's power," Laxey Partners chairman Colin Kingsnorth said, according to Britain's Press Association.

"After Ashley removed (Laxey board member) Norman Crighton, Ashley's most vocal critic, it was obvious (Rangers chairman) David Somers was just a wet fish agreeing anything Ashley wanted.

"I am sure the Three Bears are an upgrade on us for fans and hopefully this is the start of the ownership being in the right hands."

Taylor bought a 3.2 percent stake in Rangers last month, meaning the 'Three Bears' now control 19.5 percent of the club.

The consortium recently offered the Rangers board £6.5 million to underwrite a share issue that the Glasgow club need to launch in order to recoup £8.3 million in losses and stay afloat.

Rangers recently borrowed £3 million from Ashley.

But he was prevented from raising his stake in the club from 8.92 percent to just under 30 percent by the Scottish Football Association because of his dual interests as owner of English club Newcastle United.

Looks like he`s not wanted. Might decide the mags are worth an investment after all.
