    Is this true?

    Regarding the Hydro in Glasgow:

“The furthest away seat is nearer to the artists than the nearest seat in the 02 (in London) - and that's what has made it such a success.”

How fecking far do you sit from the stage at the O2? You must need a telescope.

Has anyone been to the O2 who can confirm or deny this?

I think it's bollocks. I have been to the O2 for a number of concerts (only 20 mins from home) and the seating is generally fine. Avoid the 4th tier as it is quite high up and the seats ain't great there, but otherwise comparable to other venues I have been too. However, for some of the more popular concerts (like 1D), they do have a standing area in front of the stage which will push the seats back further.

It does sound a bit far fetched, the seats furthest away from the stage at the Hydro are a fair old distance, I can't imagine any venue where the nearest seats are about 200 yards from the stage. Ridiculous, you'd be better off buying the Live DVD.

It was a smaller venue not the main one but you could touch the stage.

I was giving you a sense of distance you twit.
Had a fantastic fillet steak and glass of red at Goucho before for about £50 without veg too.
The Millenium dome is huge Dev and you can use a cable car to get to it.
Great venue and probably 10 times bigger than Hydro.

Is it not like going to the circus, it's just a big tent really? I prefer smaller venues, never seen a band in a stadium and I have no plans to do so. Same goes for festivals, wading about in ****, paying over the odds for booze and weed and having to listen to some right old sheeite along with the good bands? Count me out.

The O2 is huge and is good for fitting in more people Dev it is not a tent or exposed to mud or weather if you wanted to see Madonna for example or the Rolling stones then more people will want to attend so your intimate "pub" scenario with reasonably priced beer and no waiting about for entry or the bar is highly unlikely.
Were you actually planning to go or just wanted a "In my day it cost 2 bob to see Barry Manillow and you could just turn up and pay on the door " sort of old fart rant?

The best venues I have been to are Brixton academy and Hammersmith Apollo.
The Empire and Hippodrome in Leicester square are both casinos now.

Not planning to go to the O2, just wanted to know if it was true about the seats being so far from the stage. I prefer standing up when I see a band, the Barrowlands or Carling Academy would be my preference, or King Tut's for the less well known bands.
