We have signed a new wingback from Mexico on loan from Granada. He must be good, he has over a million followers on Twitter! lol. Apparently plays both left and right and is almost two footed though favours the right. Desperately needed, let's just hope he's good enough!

He's more noted as a full back though - does so for his country. Wonder who this could spell the end of?

i'm guessing Anya, there's been a lot of interest and i personally wouldn't think it would be a great loss for us.

That would seriously affect the British contingent numbers though...

I have seen him play many times. He has speed that is for sure and has scored some good goals too.

Now then, today on the tele they were saying he has signed for Granada and has a Spanish passport.

Need to get to the bottom of it yet - however, would be a good signing - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miguel_Layún

Hmm, good point. But i'm guessing there'll be a few different ins and outs in January, so i suspect they have that covered, if i'm right of course.

Sorry, I'm not up to date on the 'number of British players' thing. I see this about the Premier League:
How does this affect Football League and have any of our 'foreign' players been registered for three years? I don't think so.

    Thoughts?

Re Anya, I think there is an element of Scott Loach here. The media have, IMHO, overrated him hugely, so let's cash in while he's 'hot' (but in reality only tepid ;)).

Watford Linked With Mexican Wing Back
Watford are linked with Mexican winger, Miguel Layun, who has recently switched to Granada.

The Mexican has just lately put pen to paper on agreeing a move to Granada and could be set to play for them in La Liga, but Spanish reports are suggesting that the left wing back could be heading to Vicarage Road for a loan spell.

Words of the report translate to, 'Moments earlier, the newspaper Ideal of Spain said that despite the recruitment of defence, this would go on loan at Watford in the English second division, because their area is now covered.'

So with the twenty six year old possibly coming into Hertfordshire, this could mean Lloyd Dyer is set for a move away from Watford due to lack of game time, but what about Pudil?

I love the Czech and I thought he was quite eye-catching against Cardiff but Layun may just be cover for Pudil in that left wing back position, who knows?

Looking into Miguel Layun, he has made twenty-two appearances for the Mexican national team and found the back of the net on three occasions.

Quite a big player to be heading to the Championship wouldn't you say?

He did play for Mexico in the World Cup of Brazil this year, featuring in the vast majority of their matches, and is quite popular having over one million followers on Twitter.

The club he has departed to join Granada was Club America, where he made over one-hundred and forty appearances for the top flight Mexican side, netting fifteen goals.

Over the past couple of days, the wing back was linked with Premier League leaders Chelsea, who Watford come head to head with in their next fixture, but obviously no agreements were made which saw him join Granada.

Layun has also played in Italy, playing for Atalanta during the 2009-10 season.

Adléne Guedioura and Sebastien Bassong are on loan to the Hornets and Lloyd Doyley is getting older. Perhaps Miguel Layun is to replace one of these. Or even Joel Ekstrand. There might have to be some adjusting at the back.

Great to have 2 international left backs who are natural in that position meaning we won't need to play somebody out of position.

Hopefully this guy can settle in well and fit into the team nicely.

Do feel a bit for Pudli but guess competition will only make him more determined.

Has also been utilised as wing back when mexico play 352. If he can withstand the physicality of championship then am hoping this is an inspired move.

Now all we need is a bassong type lump in central defence! if he could be homegrown would be handy!
