Worthington now 4/1 So predictable. They may shorten a little bit more today but I reckon he''' be well out of the running by this time tomorrow. Like you said fella, it would be a crazy appointment. Mike Ashley does crazy things though.
Waiting till the Summer should improve their options. De Boer is decent, I'd like to think he'd turn them down, but that's only because I don't want them to get a decent manager in. Last one they had was Bobby Robson, had they not sacked him he would have won them something imo
the only player i'd see Bruce interested in taking with him to Newcastle (if the unlikely event ever happened) are Chester Elmo Diame I just hope that IF theres mutterings at the club of Bruces departure , then they are also paying attention !
nono............. nono he can take Ince with him.. Ince said SB was the reason he signed. So I'd expect him to follow SB like a puppy
If he left given Newcastle's squad I would expect bids for: Chester, Robertson, Livermore, Jelavic. I think it's clear Newcastle need some wide players and attacking players with quality, luckily (guess not? haha!!) we don't have many of those either!!
Yes Huddlestone did have a great year last season, but this season he has been very poor compared to last, along with Livermore. If anyone offered the club what we paid for them they would absolutely snap their hands off, as we overpaid for both.
How can you say that Huddlestone IS our midfield, especially after that pathetic excuse of a tackle which got him red carded. He obviously had plans for the Christmas break.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...as-long-term-replacement-for-Alan-Pardew.html Sounds like Bruce is safe. Head Coach only gets limited say in Transfers
We look much worse without Thudd, how can you not see that? Also, I'm pretty certain his Christmas plans consisted of training.
We also got that win without Diame, Livermore or Dawson too. Do you think they shouldn't be in there?
He's on a one year rolling contract - for what it's worth. Contracts can have compensation clauses in them so it doesn't really matter. I'm sure when he signed the "Championship contract" his wages would increase if the club got promoted,
I don't understand this thing about managing "the club I supported as a boy". If I was a successful manager in the Premier League I wouldn't be swayed by Hull City coming calling for me any more than any other club. It's exactly the same as if I was a player. Palace fans are excited about getting Pardew. He's a lot better than I expected them to be able to get right now. But all they seem to care about is that he scored the winning goal for them in the FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool! About 35 years ago I was asked for an interview for a job as the accountant of Wimbledon AFC. It would have been interesting but I accepted another job offer even before the interview.
I haven't read the whole thread so it may have already been said but the same goes for Newcastle. Why would Ashley offer the job to Steve Bruce just because he was a fan as a boy. I'd be a lot more worried about a club coming in for the manager if we were flying high in the league and overachieving rather than the current situation where it feels like we should be doing a little bit better than we are with the money we spent in the summer.
Its been widely reported from today's press conference that Bruce has said he's going nowhere but - more interestingly - he's been offered 3 jobs since he's been with us. If we're assuming one was Palace in the summer I wonder what the other 2 were? Very interesting that, as far as I'm aware, none of these made the media at the time yet we like to think we know everything. edit - actually come to think of it one was probably Fulham - which was speculated on - and knowing the way he is thought of by Whelan the other might be Wigan.
