I cannot fathom anything about the man, but he did say he would not be selling til end of season, did he not? Which didn't state he would, but it was implied this would happen. Clearing out Pardew now makes sense, as does keeping Carver/Stone til season end. I would imagine he'll see how the next two go and leave it, as he did with Hughton, as a caretaker. If these two lose both games, he'll probably give Pedro a shot as well. All about cost saving. It does look like he's preparing to sell.

But nothing is as it seems with Ashley

Isn't it just! The minute you think you've got your head around one bit of the situation you realise that it doesn't ft with another. Regardless of what has been said though, if a situation arises to force Ashley to go change his timetable (such as the SFA hearing, the collapse of Rangers credit facilities this season, and the emergence of alternative investors) then Ashley will not care that he has previously said something different to what he does - in the same way we wouldn't ourselves if we were in his shoes.

Perhaps no one is advising - and no one ever has advised - Ashley.

He's been trusted to have his own thoughts from the beginning and it's been backfiring spectacularly ever since.

I think it's a case of watching and waiting. We'll learn something about his next moves depending what happens, but I'd be staggered if anyone here, or anywhere, guesses correctly. Maybe that should be a post - guess the next move, managerial appointment, selling the club, January window. Prize for the closest.

Please no. The likes of him and HBA is just going backwards. We need players, but the right ones.

I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to temp Harry away from QPR, He would never come and work under this regime anyway but he did try and lure him here in 2008.

Hence my question the other day Albert. Why are we still on the shelf? The sheer cost to buy NUFC will flush out the Venky'esq clowns and 'should' ensure a serious player. The fat man clearly sees an opportunity at Rangers that he doesn't appear to want to pass him by and we seem to be more hassle to him than we are worth nowadays, free advertising or otherwise. I suspect that he will be looking to sell, and soon. Short term managerial appointment to see us stagger to the end of the season, a last selling spree to trouser a fair few million and away he goes in the summer.

ACS's idea relating to Americans doesn't get much traction when you consider that Lerner at Villa is trying to get the hell out, as posted elsewhere there are no queues of multi-billionaires desperate to buy into the EPL, the bubble has burst because FFP pulled the rug out from under any Billy want a shiny new toy as they can't chuck £500 mill plus at a club to buy the championship, play in Europe and be loved by the sweaty masses hanging around in the ground on match day making it look untidy. I get the feeling as well with Rangers that the SFA and friends have decided that no matter what, they are going to do as much as they can to block Ashley from getting control of Rangers.

Javi Gracia from Málaga would be good. In the pre-season friendly Málaga played us off the park with lovely football.

Ashley could of been a hero on Tyneside and his company known globally if he had delivered what he promised at the start. he said he wanted Newcastle to be one of the top 3 or 4 clubs in Europe when he arrived. not looking through the clubs finances before he bought it and realising the extent of the debt was sheer madness on his behalf, you wonder how he built up such a huge empire after he and his people overlooked this. he had the money to do it but when things went sour after keegan walked and the fans turned on him that was the end of the dream for us.
his attitude has been "stuff you" and he's never forgive us ever since.
as long as he makes a profit every year that is all that matters to him. we have to be grateful in one sense that he has stabalised the club and put us back into the black financially.
his business reflects our club. a huge company providing mediocre tat to the public who keep going through the doors / turnstiles no matter what and he knows it.

Honestly, and you know how much he drove me insane as a player, I would rather have Shola as player manager than the likes of Mccoist, Hoddle, Curbishley, every other jobs for the boys candidate, etc

Hoddle is no bottom feeder. He has a first class record. He was simply ****ed over. Been out of it a while but has got himself back involved. Could be a top appointment.

What about Chris Hughton then? You gordies were only to keen to tell us at Norwich how lucky we were to have him and that we were crazy to want rid. Well now you've hounded out a superior manager how about slumming it again with the man us Norwich fans should have been greatful to have? I know I'm casting this stone from a glass house as our board in there infinite wisdom appointed someone as bloomin useless again, but seriously would any of you view hughton as anything but a cheap unmitigating disaster in the making. Sorry forgot came in peace, like Newcastle etc etc

    Bah!
