I think everybody associated with the club other than Monk would have started Ki instead of him last night <cheers>

Let Siggy run his arse off for 60 minutes , like he tends to do , and switch with Shelvey...not rocket surgery.I think we would see a totally different Shelvey. Britton and Carroll the same thing regarding shared duty. Ki is the linkman to it all.Another Ki type player would be welcome in my eyes.

Well what goes around comes around. Monk barked publicly at the officials. The FA did nothing then for whatever reason, and it was only a matter of time before they found a way to retaliate.

Yep, they probably thought "why make this guy a martyr", we'll just **** with him and his team in our own little way, game by game, down the stretch.

Little do they realize that they're probably doing us a favor by suspending Shelvey. Our best hope is that he tweets something really stupid to compound it all into more than 3 games.

Apparently, it could be 4 games because he was sent off at Everton!

    Sterling has not been charged........

Sterling's situation is an abomination. In the old days ..... Chopper Harris and Tommy .... he would have regretted that little move before the end of the game.

The fact of the matter is that Shelvey is either too close to a moron to get it or doesn't care. Same can be applied to a lesser extent and in different terms to Routs and Dyer. At this point we need players on the field that can make the talent they have work and deliver as expected for 90 minutes. I'm thinking of Carroll, Fulton, Grimes, Barrow et al. Players that are begging for opportunity and hungry to take it and make the most out of it. Shelvey acts like he's untouchable, which is unforgivable.

Carroll ... yes and he's shown it. Barrow is fast but couldn't beat the full back when he came on against Palace, Fulton was getting rave reviews at the end of last season but only for not being Canas (Fulton really did nothing) and Grimes hasn't played in the league (has he? ) one loanee and three doing quite well at under 21 level.
So much for our fantastic squad!
Monk can either write off January, bring in talent and hope they gel quickly, pray his luck holds, keep playing his mate. I go for Shelvey being busy.

Well if he (Shelvey ) gets the expected 4 match ban then he maybe busy but it won't be through playing football. The next few games are looking more difficult than maybe we previously expected .At the start of the season I was confident that we could go toe to toe again any one but on recent performances that looks more like wishful thinking.

Shelvey will be busy twiddling his thumbs for 3 to 4 games. This means Leon / Carroll / Sig will get to build a partnership. Leon focusing on his job and only his job can still be effective and Carroll will permit that to happen. Jazz could also play a role in DM. We need to avoid injuries. Emnes can be an effective sub for Sig late in matches. As for Grimes, who's to say what this player can and cannot do at this point, but in Shelvey we have a 22 year old, going on 2, who runs like a 52 year old, thinks with the clarity of somebody with Alzheimer's. How much worse could it possibly be.

Very accurate description Yankee. Shelvey might very well be spending a lot more time on the bench, or even shipped out. After last night`s performance & several others lately, he seems to be fed up with playing for us. So take your pick as Michael Miles used to say.
