If this upturn in results, and in the last two matches performance, is a true state of affairs in our club, then I believe it will be hard for any other club to match our results. So, yes.
We are still 10/1 to be champions, I honestly cannot believe the bookies don't fancy is! I'm all over that, and would strongly recommend others get involved as well, each-way at least!
Well the 10/1 wasn't around for very long - Paddy Power have shunted us out to 14/1 now! Bournemouth 2/1 favourites, surely they're not going to hold on all season are they?
tbh, 14/1 is incredible good value for you guys, this league can swing just like that and a ten point gap can disappear so so quickly.
I would not be in the slightest bit surprised if they do. Had you asked me the same question in August I would probably have laughed at the very idea but credit where it's due, and good luck to them. I never thought I would see the day when the likes of Bournemouth and Brentford were competing for a place in the top flight, it's kinda surreal, but they are where they are on merit. Other teams that were long-termers in the lower divisions have flirted with the top of the 2nd tier, Hereford, Cambridge, Bristol Rovers, Preston but all fell short - this season, I really do believe it's going to be different, with the Cherries making in, one way of the other.
With the shed loads of money that they have spent it wouldn't surprise me of 'lil ol' Bournemouth get promoted. If they fail this year they will be hammered by FFP!
I have said before that in my view all teams have a kind of level and eventually they will return to that position. Wigan have obviously over-performed in recent years and are looking like they could well drop to where one would expect them to be, i.e. 3rd tier. If Bournemouth do get promoted (and I sincerely hope that they do) then sadly this will always be a temporary promotion and their relegation in the following season or two is inevitable, largely because the crowds they attract cannot support a squad that can compete with the Premier League. For us, we should be aiming at the play-offs as a minimum, not sure about the automatics as that is a bit of a lottery and could come down to literally a point or two at the end of the season. Fair play to Ipswich who have held their form very well indeed and do not appear to be showing any cracks at present and might well nick one of the two automatics, that would have been perceived as a turn up at the start of the year.
Let's be honest here, anyone who still thinks we can win the league after that Reading debacle needs to be sectioned. Our inconsistancy even makes me doubt a top 6 finish, Town on the other hand are nailed on for promotion IMO
We have too much ground to catch up for auto promotion unless we suddenly get a fantastic run of form. Im not over bothered but hope we can carve out a good top six finish and get to play at Wembley as I would love to take my boys there for more than a stadium tour! The only consistent team I see is Bornemouth, thought they were very good when we played them at Carrow Road, 1p5quit were rubbish to start with and have hit a bit of form would but just as easy for them to do what us and Florists did after a while and fall back again it is a long season and its the 2nd half that sorts the men from the boys. ( according to the football League show lot we are a second half team!!!! )
That would be Ipswich who has lost the least amount of games in the championship so far this season, conceded the third least amount of goals this season, has the top goal scorer so far this season, and has lost 1 game in the last 19? whatever you say, keep writing us off!
Guru where did I write you off ? Was just saying in my opinion Bournemouth are the only team who have been on the money since the start You guys are doing great I predict you will go up, there that's screwed it for you !
woah, what happened to the website?!?! pretty sure this thread should now be moved to the ipswich board - little point having it here anymore - they look to me, despite common conceptions from our fans, that they are going to stay the distance this season. whether they go up automatically is still up in the air but i think its almost certain they will finish above us. automatic promotion is nothing but a fantasy for us now which is more than a little annoying considering that was the aim for this season and we haven't even reached 2015 yet. we seem to take one step forwards and two steps back at the moment. as i said some weeks ago i cannot think of a more frustrating season i've ever witnessed. its play offs or bust (not literally) for us now.
