We're screwed if Pelle is out for a few months. Would ideally like a striker such as Ings.

Yeah, can't see that being even remotely likely. That said, were I the agent of some European wunderkind and primarily concerned about the players' best interests rather than my own (thus rendering me a mythical creature), I'd favour a couple years at Southampton over moving to one of the giants. Would be rather interesting if we could start to carve out the same sort of space as a finishing school for future superstars that Ajax has.

Are there any fresh inclinations from the posters who have contacts with regards players like JRod and Alderwireld. I know a lot has been said about JR. but they appeared rumour/speculation based on him not signing a contract extension when offered mid knee injury.
I'd love TA to sign long term, but to be fair, I don't think he's ever hinted as to doing anything other than he's doing atm and that's putting himself in the shop window..

He's also a pretty smart finisher. Even if he wanted to come to us, Burnley surely wouldn't let him leave mid season. He might be the difference between them staying up and going down.

I know what you mean Beef, and I'd like it to happen, but I do feel we can attract a better player. And no, I can't think of who either. Not Rhodes. We're well past his level.

Ings will get better, and I'd like him at the end of the season, but we need someone electric for the rest of this one. A Premier League version of Billy Sharp would do. Only this one would have a future with SFC. Charlie Austin, if he slimmed down a bit.

Or buy both? Ings is a different players then Austin. Austin is a poacher. Were as Ings tends to set up more goals.

Burnley may well let him go as his contract expires at the end of the season when he would leave for nothing whereas now they could probably get £5/6m

On the other hand if he leaves and they get relegated it could cost them a lot more than that.

Ings doesn't want to leave until the summer.

Its a bit of a gamble for them but I think they will get relegated whether he stays or goes.

Good every time I see anything about him it's never linking him to us but to just about every other team. Hope your source is correct and we surprise everyone.

Well yeah, I'd have no problem with that. Thing is, they have to grow with the club. What we see now can't be their best game, otherwise they won't be good enough. Summer is exactly when I'd like Ings. Now is when I'd like Austin, for the run-in.

In other news, Zarate is joining QPR [just in case it wasn't widely known].

Don't think qpr would sell Austin, same boat as Ings in their only chance of staying up is through him.

I'd take Ings in the summer, he would add a lot to the squad even if he isn't firt choice.

Watch the game tonight, Leeds were basically awful and Byron didn't stand out.

Burnley would be mad to let Ings go in January, except for stupid money. The other 19 PL clubs would be mad to pay stupid money for Ings in January, given that he'd be free six months later.

I'll eat the leftover Turkish Delight from my selection box if Ings leaves next month (and yes, that it worse than eating my hat).
