Care to elaborate that accusation? Not sure I am 'wrong' its a subjective opinion as is yours. I'm a realist.
The goalie is part of the team. You're making out like we're at some unfair advantage by having a quality keeper.
Reality is it takes 2 points per game to get a top 4 place. We have played 19 games and only 28 points to show for it, that means we are 10 points behind schedule, therefore we need to win the next 10 games just to get on track!!! No chance.
If you were capable of comprehension then you would have been able to understand that I have said the somehow we are showing signs that idicate that things are turning for us. If that is so then a top 4 spot IS attainable. Now go an take another Valium as Everton's relegation woes are certainly getting to you.
Are you truly that thick not to be able to understand that your goalie is the only man in your defensive half that stops you being turned over week after week
iirc 60 points was the minimum for a team qualifying for CL football and that was by Livpl 10 years ago. However, the league has moved on considerably since then and in the last 5 years the more realistic target is 68+ points. Livpl will likely need a minimum of another 40 points from 19 games. That's equivalent to just over 6/7 points from every 3 games. United's next 10 fixtures Stoke (a) Southampton(h) QPR(a) Leicester(h) West Ham(a) Burnley(h) Swansea(a) Sunderland(h) Newcastle(a) Spurs(h) Arsenal's next 10 fixtures Southampton (a) Stoke(h) Man City (a) Aston Villa(h) Spurs(a) Leicester(h) Palace(a) Everton(h) QPR(a) West Ham(h) Livrpl's next 10 fixtures Leicester(h) Sunderland (a) Villa (a) West Ham (h) Everton (a) Spurs (h) Southampton (a) Man City (h) Burnley (h) Swansea (a) That takes us up to mid-March and it just depends on the gap between all 3 by then. If it's widened or stayed the same by then, then I reckon you're out of it. The fixtures for Arsenal look the toughest to me and I can't see why you couldn't close the gap on them. But as a wise man once said "We'll drop points, but so will they." So in short who the fck honestly knows. Liverpool aren't out of it, the odds are a little against them making top 4, but I don't think they'll finish below Spurs, Southampton or West Ham.
Just look at the performances from all of the 'fancied' clubs at the start of the season. Now if you continue to believe that they are the ones who will fight out 3/4th place then your 2 points per match 'norm' is way off beam
For an old fella your understanding of the game and what goes on on the green stuff surrounded by the white lines is remarkably shallow and simplistic. Explains why you get wound up so quickly and tell anyone with a contrary opinion that they're a child and should piss off!
Yup, other than Chelsea and City, no team has taken 2 points per game so far. United nearly, but not quite, and everyone else quite far behind.
Quite possibly, but I would rather aim for something that more or less guarantees top 4 than hoping everyone is below par and scrape through.
To me the Saints are really the dark horses. They have surprised me (and many others) they may or may drop off. My feeling is that they won't. That will be bad news for us. As for the mancs, it is a bit of wishful thinking to think that they'll do worse than last season. If they get the same number of points in the 19 matches as last season LFC will need to as well as last season's great second half with Suarez to overtake them. I agree with you about Spurs. Sooner or later they are bound to put in a run. So it looks like we have a multitude of challengers. Last season we were in front of the queue and others were playing catch up. This time it is the other way round.
Actually it's Jaffakop who's right here. It's about averaging 2 points per game at the end of 38 games. So Jaffakop is spot on in terms being 10 points behind and needing to catch that up. Whereas United are virtually there so to achieve it by the end of the season is more realistic.
The only opinion that Dave allows is his own, anything that deviates from 'Dave's way' is therefore 'wrong' by default. 2 more wins and he'll be declaring that a title challenge is possible........ He'll be re-acquainted with Earth at some point, same as every other year...............
I think 3rd and 4th are up for grabs for all the teams you mention. I would have said that, of that lot, Saints are most likely to fall away, but, then again, I've been saying that all season, and there they still are! Koeman is doing a fantastic job, and ought to win Manager of the Season, if he gains Saints even a Europa spot. Despite my bias, I would have said, a month ago, that Spurs were, also, favourites to finish outside the top 4, but Poch seems to be getting his act together, and his new fitness and coaching regimes seem to be having a positive effect, at long last. I can see us lasting the distance and making this a proper fight. In previous seasons, I would have said that Arsenal's pedigree would pull them through and ensure they claim at least 3rd or 4th, but Whinger seems to be on the ropes, at the moment, and they don't seem as assured as they used to be. It's going to be a thrilling climax to the season, that's for certain.
How fcking dare you make a balanced argument you evil b*******!! Fwiw though I wouldn't write you off at all.
I know that 2 points per game is usually the average, I am not disputing that. My point was that so far all the other teams are failing to meet this average too, so Liverpool can take heart from that
Well firstly - it is only my opinion - it is not 'wrong' as you do not know what will happen in the future any more than I do - unless you have a time machine? My opinions are based on what we have served up thus far this season compared to our competitors, and where we, and they, look like going in the future. I think overtaking the trio of Arsenal, Spurs and Southampton for 4th is a tall order. The last time Arsenal finished outside of the top 4 was the 1995/96 season! And I don't see us catching City, Chelsea or United which locks out the top four. Arsenal aren't brilliant, but they're more likely to finish top 4 based on precedent, their current squad and form in comparison to us. This is all before you have a good look at our own problems. We still need a striker, we're still poor at the back and need a keeper. We've only just stumbled on a decent formation. 2 results does not relieve us of these problems. I think top 6 is realistic, but top 4 is unlikely - but not impossible. That is realistic imo.
