My favourite city is probably York. Good nightlife, nice restaurants and an interesting place during the day for history geeks like me. North Wales is nice. Even down south there are some decent places like Tenby.
Depends where you go. I live in Mumbles which is itself a fairly nice little place and is right next door to the Gower penninsula. One of the beaches there just won Britain's favourite beach and another one of them won it last year, it is by anyone's assesment a bloody lovely place. Then there is Pembrokeshire, also stunning to say the least. If you ended up in Newport in the south or Rhyl in the north then yeah, it's a ****e hole but that can be said of absolutely anywhere if you end up in the wrong place. There's a **** off massive big Amazon warehouse right here in Swansea too!! Added to that the 27 pound shops in town and you want for nowt. JJS, lived in York for a year in the late 80's . Great place.
Is Tenby in Pembrokeshire? That's a lovely little place. Pembroke's ok too, and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. Went to Rhyl a couple of years back. There was this chippy that had won awards for its kebabs, but when I tried one it was ****e. Nothing like what you'd get in Manchester. Love the place. I've been twice in the last couple of years, and will hopefully return soon enough.
Yeah, Tenby is in pembs. Went down there for the day the other week, it is a great little town and loads to do around the place if you've got kids. Cracking golf course too. The whole area is good, loads of rural quiet stuff and the odd tourist trap but the beaches and such like are out of this world. Near Pembroke there is a place called Barafundle, absolutely and utterly mint. Only time I ever go to north Wales now is for Snowdonia and there's nothing at all to complain about there either, Rhyl and Prestatyn though are holes.
Go further down the Llyn penninsula and it gets even better. Abersoch and Aberdaron, both great places. We used to go there on holidays when we were kids.
Drove through both, my mum used to have a holiday home in Abersoch. A lot of the locals actually speak Welsh in the North too don't they? If the weather's nice enough, it's almost as you've gone abroad.
Aye. When you go into a pub , they all change from speaking English to Welsh, and make it obvious it's you they're talking about
Too right they do, especially in the Aberdaron bakery where they used to babble away in Welsh and charge more to us than they did to locals. Or so me Mam always claimed! Funny old language, one I'm used to as my girfriend is a Welsh teacher and my eldest son's school is first language welsh. He's five and can speak it, I'm excluded from many conversations in my house!
I`d move into Edinburgh Castle , nice views , handy for the shops and local ammenities . Private and secluded yet in the middle of town. Well maintained by previous owners with very little work being necessary , plenty of space for the kids or occasional houseguests. Obviously I`d be closing it to visitors.
