Yes, how dare some fans be happy that our team got to it's first ever Cup final in it's history and as a result got into Europe! How dare they!

I'm sorry, but you are the one who is deluded. Just trying to find something to make Bruce sound worse. Goodnight, God bless.
It doesn't get much worse than getting knocked out in the qualifying stage, to a midtable Belgian team, in order to focus on the league and then be ****ing that up too!!
You keep referring to Lokeren as a "'midtable' Belgian team", but they've finished in the title qualification places most seasons, they're better than just 'mid-table'. We hardly played a **** team against Lokeren either: McGregor, Rosenior, Figueroa, Chester, Davies (c), Elmohamady, Meyler, Brady, Livermore, Sagbo, Aluko Jelavic, Ince and Huddlestone all came on in that game as well. Sagbo got himself sent off, which didn't help, but Huddlestone aside, every one of those players was in the squad to face Leicester. Which kind of underlines my point this season; our weakness doesn't lie in our first 11, it's our strength in depth that costs us. Our back up players simply aren't good enough. The likes of Meyler, Quinn et al are decent enough footballers, but they just aren't up to the task of being PL footballers every week. I might be being a bit harsh on Quinn, but lets face it, if we have so many injuries, the players we need to call on should not only be able to fill in gaps, but also challenge for places. Who's currently challenging McGregor for the Number 1 jersey? Apparently not Harper, who's been doing punditry work here and there. Who's vying to push Jelavic out the side? Nobody. Most other teams have enough talent to challenge for places and almost certainly aren't as crippled as we've been without our best players.

Kinell, finally some sense on these forums. Well said. If we do get anyone in who forces anyone to fight for their place, we get all hysterical threads like the McShane one.
That has to be the most stupid remark I have ever read in regards to our club. Where was it said we are massive? What the hell do you mean by size and what the hell does it have to do with the quality of our team and their performances? We are in the PL through a process of long and hard qualification; we earned promotion and then we earned the right to stay in this league. Who the hell are you to belittle that? If you don't think our European flirtation a farse then you need to reassess what you expect from the club. There is a very good reason someone at the BBC chose to publish piece on a 12 month review of PL teams and there is a very clear reason we are not just bottom, but rock bloody bottom. It's nothing to do with name-change distraction, nothing to do with funds for players, not really too much to do with the quality of the squad or their availability. So what does that leave ? There are plenty of able researchers/stats lads out there (not my thing, sorry) but intuition tells me there will not be many (any?) PL managers who will have survived such a diabolical set of results.
Genuinely a tad puzzled at what point you are making. Do you believe Steve Bruce played his best eleven to stay in the European qualifiers? Has our exit from the qualifiers aided our PL performance. Do you think there have been games where inexplicable team selections have hindered our performances. Do you believe there may be some substance in my belief that claims for a lack of luck (as against Leicester) are hiding the real problem, poor team selection - round pegs in square holes? All teams have luck, all teams get injuries and suspensions, but teams that leave all of their strikers on the bench are few and far between.
Makes me laugh that people are still making excuses for just how terrible we have been in the league for 2014.
People will remember 2014 for the FA CUP, a second season in the Premiership and a foray into Europe, nobody will remember the league stats
Exactly. This 2014 stat is a load of bollocks. So what if we'd won every game last season. We'd still be 4th from bottom now. Different team different make up of the division.
You can manipulate facts all you want to support your own perpetual argument. The stats, facts of an entire calendar year are entirely relevant.
Premier League: Phil McNulty’s mid-season verdict http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30613002 Hull City - 17th SEASON SO FAR: Struggle. The light provided by the win at Sunderland was replaced by the darkness of a home defeat by fellow strugglers Leicester City. Results this year have been poor but a busy summer in the transfer market, including the £10m club record signing Abel Hernandez, after reaching the FA Cup final, pitched expectations higher than what has been delivered. HOW IS THE MANAGER DOING?: Steve Bruce has looked nonplussed at his side's struggles and his loan signing of Hatem Ben Arfa has not worked out. Bruce, however, is a manager of wide experience and few would back against him leading Hull to safety - but these are troubling times. WHAT THEY NEED TO DO NEXT: Needs to get Hernandez firing and Nikica Jelavic playing to his full potential and get some goals. Bruce made the point that in Hull's position they simply cannot create, then miss, as many chances as they did in the defeat by Leicester. Owner Professor Arsme Allaboutme has been willing to provide financial support so there should be business in January. Did you know?: The Tigers have picked up just six points at home so far this season (one win, three draws); the lowest in the division.
