One dead bird does not a season make but a good win none the less. There are signs that the second half of the season could be much better than the first. At this moment top 4 is still on!
Thought we played well tonight. Movement was much quicker, possibly because the players didn't have Gerrard to pass to as he always slows the game up
Well done guys, looking like you are back to something like the form of last season. A painful game to watch for us Swans but a reality check; we are not relegation fodder, but neither are we top 6 material. Was always going to be an uphill struggle tonight, but we didn't make it any easier on ourselves by not pressing (like you were). Shelvey can be summed by the few seconds when he beat 3 defenders and then ended with an elbow to the face - the boy has bags of talent but a dodgy temperament, but guess he will have a few games off to think about it now. The only plus point for us was Gomis looked sharp when he came on - be interesting to see how he fares with a decent run in the team.
He sliced one right towards the end which went about 25 yards out wide to the right. Kicked 1 out of touch but other than that, wasn;t too bad with his kicking.
Not only does he slow the play up but we seem to pass it about the defenders and midfielders until we work Gerrard into space, everyone seems to want to give Stevie the ball and let him dictate play. Even the pundits have finally admitted tonight that we're a better team when Gerrard's not in it.
The ref COULD say he thought Shelvey's was just a reflex action from the ball hitting him. Obviously the lino saw all the Sterling incident, but could Marriner still say he never saw it and the lino didn't inform him?
If the ref watches the replays there is no fn way he can say anything about shelvey like that. Sky fitted up shelvey like a kipper, intent shown the whole 9 yards. Sterling has to go down as he calmed it down but I think both are reds
Sorry lads but mingolet never put his foot through one... They all seems sliced to me, not a one looked all that... Fabianski looked worse mind in the end
You telling me not one ref sits down and watches the game though before writing up thier little reports? I'll go further and say the ref prob knew before coming out for second half that he missed shelveys elbow
No, I'm telling you they are not suppose to. Since he didn't even give a foul for either incident, he can hardly claim to have a detailed report on what happened in each can he? He's got to say he didn't see either incident as a foul or booking / sending off.
If I had my way (which I don't) I would go for the Rodgers approach - call it a draw. Yes JJ did throw an elbow and no Sterling should not have retailiated
Don't say we never give you anything, and you can have the Idiot Shelvey back, I hope we never play the muppet again!.............
But they all do... It's like asking someone to fit themselves up asking a ref not to watch back the controversial stuff
