I wouldn't go as far as very good, but I think he's a decent manager who has coped well with the conditions he has been working in.

I doubt very much if Ashley would let him go without lining up a replacement who will be needed to do his bidding. Another possibility is that Ashley is ready to bail out at season's end as he feels they are relatively safe now. Daft he ain't, just crafty. I love speculation.
I honestly don't think he would take the job, he knows he would be restricted under fat Ashley and that's not Bruce's style, he likes to buy his own players. Lots of them as well, Ashley won't allow this.
I've put £20 on Steve McClaren at 16/1. Supposedly well thought of at Newcastle. Good appointment if they get him.
