Match Day Thread Liverpool V Swansea

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by moreinjuredthanowen, Dec 27, 2014.

  1. I think Brod will put Sterling on the left since he believes Raheem is a good defender proven by BR playing him at FB

Kolo in for Skrtel and have my preferred defence in.

Balo can come in for Sterling and will obviously cause Leicester problems.

    Get in!

Just come back from playing football and we've actually turned in a good performance!

    Good stuff.

    Fair play to Jonjo too.

Can tell Monk has worked with Rodgers... "we won the possession" <laugh>

Our goal was apparently against the run of play because it came at the point where Swansea passed the ball for more than 2 minutes <doh>

A guy on 606 is calling for Rodgers out right now.

He says LFC are a Rolls Royce and Rodgers a local trainee mechanic.

    He hates the owners to.

He's embarrassing himself and the presenter is barely holding it back. They chuckled after he hung up.

Well that was more like last season. Touch wood and all that....

    My ratings:-

Migs: 6 Fortunately Swansea didn't press him too much. Two decent saves.

Manquillo: 7 Solid, and looking more decent coming forward.

Moreno: 7 More a wing back than a full back, game (and system) suits him.

Can: 8 Will get better still, either at c/b or dm. Never looks too hurried - a good sign in those positions.

Skrtel: 6 Sorry, he always looks the weak link when we're under pressure - or did tonight anyway.

Sakho: 7 Won most of his balls and was unlucky for the goal in that he broke his neck (figuratively) to win that ball against Bony, only to see no-one clear it.

Lucas; 7 Sound job. He and Hendo ALWAYS look better without Gerrard.

Hendo: 8 Captain's job, and see above.

Lallana 8 Best performance so far in a red shirt? Wish he could shoot as well.

Sterling: 7 Excellent movement and interchanging with the other front two.

Coutinho: 9 Would have been 10 had he scored too. At his best he's up there with Silva, Carzola and Oscar in that role. Hell, better than Mata - and I really rate Mata. Peter Beardsley springs to mind.

Subs: Markovich: 6 Doesn't look out of place any more, which is something I never thought I'd say.

Balotelli: Too late to rate, but looks a dinosaur from a different age now when you compare him to the front three.

Borini: never thought he'd kick a ball for us again, tbh.

Overall: 8 We still look iffy at the back (though less chaotic with Can about), but at least we're beginning to look like we'll score more goals than the opposition again.

Brendan: 8 Keep Can in, the two Spaniards at full/wing back, and rotate that front three with Studge, when he comes back, and an. other forward (Shaqiri please, or Berahino if poss). We'll see if this is another false dawn against Leicester. Same team but Toure replacing Skrtel, please.

Nicely done from Rodgers. Not calling out Shelvey's elbow then being hypocritical and defending Stelring.

Instead, saying they were both just incidents and ref was sensible... might just get away with it.

    Fair enough

    I'd comment

Mingolet seemed to slice an awful lot of kicks but had nothing to do

Skertl would get a 5 off me cos he passed bony off at a cm coming back and should've marked him sahko burst a gut to get back on him and actually won header and still Skertl did nowt

I'd prob give sahko an 8 for me

And... 6 for sterling he waited to much for the ball to come and Fernandez killed him all the time as a result but he needs to make more positive runs and should got his shot off on that one from coutinho not pass it back. Bit harsh maybe but still high standards and all that

Neville makes a good point... we might get away with it because the ref and lino definitely saw it. If they say they didn't see it then they are lying.

  20. I can't recall him slicing any, he side footed a few quite high and wide but never sliced them. Bare in mind that he only goes long when under pressure so its usually a clearance too.
