I would say that the percentage of knobheads is higher in the police. I'm not biased against them either, my dad is a retired copper. In my experience, they are fine with you unless you're drunk. In which case, even if you're in the right and completely innocent of any wrongdoing they'll still treat you like something they've just stood on. Maybe this wasn't always the case, just before my dad retired a couple of years back he admitted that more of the younger officers coming through these days are ****ers.
The Police are no better and no worse than anyone else in any job, there are arseholes everywhere. I was stitched up by a Copper once but it does not make me mistrust all of them.
I don't mistrust all of them, but in my experience a lot of them can be ****ers. More so than in other areas. Not all of them mind, but that's just my experience.
it does seem to be the place to be if you're into shagging drunk chicks custody sergeant here i come!
A lot of servicemen just tend to be rowdy, boorish scallies. I suppose getting paid to shoot people rather than risking going to prison is quite appealing to some elements of society. Not that I want to tar them all with the same dirty brush. some of "our boys" are top lads.
the guys you generally get causing trouble are the ones who would be in trouble if they werent in, i.e. the ones that if they werent in the army they would be in prison. it generally doesnt help when you stick a few hundred of them in a wee town
The percentage is probably higher than the general public, mainly because you have to have some kind of leaning away from conflict avoidance to even sign up. But I still reckon the percentage is higher in football fans (sadly). I actually know several cops who have pointed out to me also that those who end up on the beat or policing events tend to be the more extreme ones as well as the pansies (him included) tend to not volunteer for these things. So even amongst coppers those who police footy games are not realy a representative bunch.
