One of my colleagues asked me, quite seriously, if I was autistic once... I've never been diagnosed as such, but it did get me thinking. Do you think I am? It could explain a lot, perhaps.

I'm not sure that's a fair question to thrust at people over the internet PL!

Perhaps, ignore that question. I just thought it was curious, and Chilco's post made me think about it.

Though in light of the last post, I should point out my asking advice is not due to a desire to be the centre of attention or anything narcissistic like that but simply just due to seeking help from the collective wisdom of this forum for something that I'm not great at.

PL you're hardly autistic. You're scared of rejection. Its simple. You need to grow a pair.

A former partner of mine worked in the field of diagnosing autism in children. She reckoned that all men were on the autistic spectrum to some extent! I have no personal knowledge but try watching a few episodes of Doc Martin. Martin Clunes portrays someone with Asberger's Syndrome (the mild form of autism) very well. See if you recognise any of your own characteristics, and if you do, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT! Whether or not you have a problem, you can get help with your social insecurities, either through self-help books, or by counselling. And before you say you haven't got time, decide what would contribute more to your long-term happiness, good grades next term, or being more at ease in female company.

I have never heard of the "all men are on the autistic spectrum". I have heard it is harder detect in women as they hide it better.

    http://www.nhs.uk/news/2013/11November/Pages/Is-it-harder-to-detect-autism-in-girls.aspx

I found nothing about all men are on the autistic spectrum. So looks like she was lying.

Also PL I doubt you have autism if anything it would be aspergers rather then autism.

    http://www.autism.org.uk/About-auti...n-introduction/What-is-Asperger-syndrome.aspx

But I doubt you even have that. It is more likely you have some sort of anxiety.

I think she was joking rather than lying but she could always point to various characteristics of all her male acquaintances to back up her point!

I don't think PL has autism either by the way. Whatever he has though, he can get himself out of if he makes an effort.

So just using it to have a dig? How nice....
I think PL has social anxiety tbh. The over thinking etc is all part of it. I had it when I was younger but grew out of it and became a dick head.<laugh>

Btw Chilco, you can't delete smilies on mobiles for some reason. (With out starting your post from scratch).

I would rather know than be like those poor people with friends and relatives on the 'missing' plane.

Has your sig always had that picture? Would be nice if you took that off when posting on here as regularly as you do.

It has, but it was smaller. I'll edit it to make it smaller.

    It's a corking picture though :p

I think it's a good picture too. But not here, and most definitely not that big. Edit promptly please, PL. Get it down to somewhere near the size of the verse underneath it currently, and I'm sure that'll be OK.

I think I'm actually much better IRL than online in terms of communicating with girls if you can believe that, probably because I don't have the chance to over-analyse. Most of the time I'm perfectly comfortable around girls (even ones I fancy), only when I try to take things to the next level does it get.... more difficult.

Also, TSS, is my sig pic okay now?
